a cyborg created by calvin whose original purpose was to assist him/entertain him through playing music.
since calvin's disappearance, mael faithfully remained in the "meadow of memories" to await him. seasons turn to decades turn to centuries, and mael becomes a statue covered in overgrown plants.
after calvin returns and remembers mael's existence, he goes to the meadow to repair him. mael is overjoyed to see his master again but calvin sets him free, assigning him to look after the meadow and allowing him to share his music with the residents of Dreamland.

mael's songs can cause flowers to bloom and the variety depends on the mood of the tune!! (Walrushi for the idea)
when mael was still calvin's assistant, bud was assigned to execute lawbreakers by playing discordant music and growing carnivorous plants that would devour the convict.

still very loyal, practical and obedient despite not being calvin's assistant anymore. a bit of a people pleaser. is in search of an identity and because of this he may accidentally copy behaviors of others, though his high social adaptability also allows him to make friends easily.
