Neneko

"Neneko (or Neneko-gappa) is the name of a female kappa who made her home in the Katashina river, a tributary of the Tone river in the Ibaraki area. She would steal from the fields and drown people and horses, terrorizing the local villagers, until a member of the Kanou family defeated her and captured her. On agreement that she would no longer torment humans, she was set free and enshrined as a kami of marriage and safe delivery. The tale is described in the second volume of Akamatsu Soutan's 'Tonegawa-zushi'.

It's said that while Kuzenbou is the commander of all kappa in the west, Neneko rules over the kappa of the east."
