Penny lived a pretty standard life as a teenager in 1990's suburbia. Often rolling with her group of besties to troll the local mall to staying out late in skate parks, making memories to avoid her home life. They would always go on about their dreams, their plans beyond the drab town. She aspired to be a professional photographer, with her shots covering gallery walls. 

During her sophomore year, she began a torrid love affair with her English professor, who was 40 years old and married. Forbidden, she was kept like a secret as he was kept like an oath. 

Upon visiting her family for Thanksgiving break, with false promises to join her and meet her family. Numerous calls to his residence left unanswered. Feeling a bit hopeless and alone, she reconciled with his absence. But he appeared in the night, having driven hours to her. He was enraged. Furious. And she beckoned him inside. Hushed arguments led to a heated fight in her bedroom, vicious toxicity in regards to how her voicemails and relentless calling raised suspicions to his own wife. The Professor couldn't bear her "clinginess" as she refused for the relationship to end this way, that they were in love and he was wrong to do this. But all it took was a solid shove out the attic window for her life to fade to black. She was found the next morning, mangled on the ground. The professor long gone.

Returning to the waking world, now a ghost, she found herself surrounded by family and loved ones, dressed in black -- a wake in her honor. She wondered and wandered about, unaware of the circumstances of her death. Such severe trauma to the skull impacted her memory, last she remembered was calling her unresponsive boyfriend and spending time with her family. It was then she learned she had "a fatal accident", confirmed by both her parents and the police, despite the gossipy whispers of suicide.

As the participants of her wake dispersed, it wasn't too long before her family packed up their things, wanting a new life and a new change, away from the grief. But Penny couldn't leave. She was trapped, remaining there. Unseen and unheard and all alone. Years would pass, then new homeowners would appear, but soon pass with a good scare or two. Filtering those she doesn't like with some solid poltergeist shenanigans, anything to pass the time in her empty eternity.
