ABOUT

Michel was born and raised in Toulouse, France, amongst a working class family of shop mechanics. He had a relatively normal childhood, known to be quiet amongst the other children he went to school with but overall far from a bother. Life for him was flipped upside down in 1939 after being drafted in WWII, and only got worse when France surrendered to Germany.

Come 1940 Michel found himself spending the next few years at a labor camp, being forced to help construct German wartime machinery when he was just 18 years old. He would not return to France until 1943 after being repatriated, now as a jaded 21 year old, only to be ridiculed by his country for his forced betrayal and aid of the enemy. Michel and his family took to the countryside to recouperate for a few years away from the hustle and bustle of the city while the war wrapped up. After the Germans occupying Monaco were removed in 1944, the Marcouxs packed up and moved for good. It was there that Michel discovered his love for fast cars and racing.

It wouldn't be until 1946 when he was able to compete in the Turin Grand Prix while his country healed from it's previous invasion. Though he finished far from first, it was an eye opening experience for Michel, he found what he wanted to do. He continued to race all over Western Europe for the next few years and eventually won Les Mans in 1950, the same year he was assigned to the Pasquale team. There he would meet Ashley Barker, the hotshot that had been signed two years prior and had already earned the team quite a noteable reputation amongst racing fans.

Michel had a hard time fitting in at first due to his naturally reserved demeanor, but eventually grew close to team member Feliciano Torres due to sharing similar cultural backgrounds. Considered a drifter amongst his teammates Michel was never really held down by one person (which also applied to his after dark affairs) but proved very easy to spend time with once they got past his initial aloofness. When Ghigo Fabbrini was signed in 1954 Michel was wary of him and his unapolagetic kindness, but eventually came around to the young man's company and spirit. Some say Fabbrini even helped get him out of his shell a little more.

Summary
Polite Sassy
Cautious Impulsive
Social Reserved
Intelligence Ignorant
Emotional Rational
Productive Lazy

Michel is very aloof and distant, but slightly less so with those he knows well and considers his friends. He's something akin to a steel trap, nobody knows what he's thinking or feeling at any given moment due to his semi-permanent poker face and bluntness. It's considered a high honor to have him open up about anything particularly personal as he only ever does so with those he's comfortable with. It takes a very long time to earn Michel's trust and respect, but those who've come out the other side find it was well worth it. His love language is acts of service, wether that be tuning a car, patching a sweater, tidying a room, shopping, or finishing chores, Michel prefers to let his actions speak rather than his severe lack of words. Though when he's curious about something or interested in a certain topic, he tends to ask a lot of straight-forward questions and engage in casual, but deep conversations. A tell tale sign that Michel likes someone is when he asks questions or approaches them initially on his own accord. He can be pretty expressive at times as well, if he wants somebody to know he disapproves of something or he finds you humorous it's quite easy to earn a cocked eyebrow or snort. That being said, he generally enjoys spending time with talkative people because he finds it easier to listen and engage. He's also known to be pretty mischevious, he doesn't generally enjoy physical pranks but much rather likes to surprise people with a rare, perfectly timed witty remark.

One of Michel's downfalls is his extreme independence. He doesn't necessarily believe in explainations and has a terrible habit of disappearing out of the blue, and whatever he's out doing is between him and god. Naturally this has caused some trouble between him and Pasquale, the team sponsor, especially when trying to keep tabs on his racers for up and coming events. As an intelligence over emotion type of person, Michel is also very quick to turn the other cheek when it comes to intimate situations with those he cares for deeply, mainly due to embarrassment. He has a hard time allowing himself to feel passionately about people, which goes hand in hand with how he was treated after coming home from Germany. The last thing he ever wants is for people to view him as weak or soft and rather than being outwardly brash, Michel prefers to keep things under lock and key. The less people know about him the better.

Notes
Design Notes
  • On the shorter and thinner side, his wardrobe tends to be baggier which makes him appear bigger
  • Simple hairstyle, doesn't spend too much time styling it. His mustache on the other hand is VERY well groomed
  • Hawk-ish nose. Broke it during a crash early on in his career
trivia
  • His nickname means "Kitten" or "Small Cat", but also dupes as something vulgar in relation to a certain part of the female anatomy. How he earned it really isn't a mystery, but it's said endearingly
  • Has a loud, bellowing laugh. Snorts. Wheezes. Nobody will ever believe you
  • Sweet tooth and enjoys strange food combos, not picky and will try anything once but doesn't eat much in general
