Astarte

    Astarte, once nothing but a mercenary, was hired to escort the Archbishop of the Church of Seiros. They were attacked, and she suffered a fatal blow. He healed her with his blood, thus developing the Major Crest of Seiros herself. From then, she was welcomed into the church as a holy knight, quickly rising through the ranks by her skill and dedication until she was heading the warriors herself. Pledged entirely to the church she fell in love with one of its clergy, and soon bore his child.     Unfortunately, when the child was born, something was terribly wrong. The child posessed no heart. Despite the frailty of her husband he begged the Archbishop to save their child by taking his own heart, to which he agreed, ultimately killing him in the process. Astarte mourned endlessly. Left with her child and the mysterious, untimely death of her husband, she kept to herself, finding it difficult to even look at her son for how much he resembled his father. She often left him with the monks when she could not bear the pain, only to find one horrible morning that her child had been stolen by one of the very monks she trusted. Now with no faith left in the church she fled without a word, beginning the search for her lost babe.     She did not find him for several years, drinking her life away in taverns across Fodlan, when she reunited with a member of the knights by chance, who mentioned a student familiar to what she had gathered her son had grown to be. Under the ruse of a trip to reunite with her former friends she came and saw her son again for the first time. Quickly she accepted Emrys' invitation to return to knighthood, if only to be close to her son again. Someday she will tell him everything. Someday.
