Astrid Alderwick was always a little entitled, but after some rogue mages burned down her and her fiancée's little shop and burned part of her face, she found her vitriolic purpose among the ranks of the Witch Hunters, a Church of Light sanctioned paramilitary group active in the sprawling city of Erradan.
While her fiancée did her best to salvage what remained of their business, Astrid instead spent her nights tracking down heretics and putting them to the pyre— those mages practicing anything other than Holy magic of the Light, or the scholarly kind of arcane magic taught in the Tower.
In the present day, Astrid has spent decades with the Witch Hunters, rising through their ranks to achieve a position in the very top of the organisation. She has grown old, and having long since lost contact with her fiancée, there is little more than hate remaining in her
heart.
