they say queen blizzard was a kind queen once. they say she smiled, that her people thrived. but the summers grew shorter and the winters grew harsher and now she must be as brutal as the blizzard itself to keep her people surviving. she had been proud of how hardy her people were, how they thrived as far north as they did. she is no longer proud. time and years of difficult decisions have made her jaded and bitter. the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few and she has been the one to chose the option that causes so much pain in order to stave off even worse. her appearance is possibly the only thing that brings her joy anymore, and even her regalia is old and worn and mended time and time again.

why doesn't she ask her neighbor, silver snowdrift for help? oh she has, time and time again. she's sent people far and wide to seek help but few ever return and none have returned with good news. snowdrift in particular claims she has too many mouths to feed already. blizzard can't help but be envious of her and her magic and her tundras and her crops. unfortunately, her people are on their own.
