It's a character design that you can own. You can either create a character by yourself or either buy them from others artists!

It's the most popular website for storing character designs, where users can also code HTML profiles and add descriptions. Additionally, it features a significant marketplace for buying and selling character designs.

β¦ What's an adopt auction?
Artists often organize auctions for their adopts. People bid for the adopt and the winner of the auction will own the adopt.
| β¦ SB : It stands for Starting Bid. The bid must be equal or higher to the SB. β¦ MI : Minimum Increase. It's the minimum amount to add from the previous bid. β¦ AB : Auto Buy. It's a set price to "skip" the auction part and automatically buy the adopt. By AB'ing, the person can own the adopt without waiting the end of the auction. - β¦ Hold : A temporary pause in offering a design for sale or trade, during which the other party secures the required payment for the desired design. The current owner waits for an agreed-upon time for the transaction to be completed. β¦ PP/Payment Plans : These refer to arrangements where a buyer divides the total cost of a purchase into multiple installments, allowing for more manageable payments over time, instead of paying the entire amount upfront. β¦ Vouchers :Β This entails an individual committing to purchase an item of equal or similar value to a character they receive from the seller. |

| β¦ Trade :Β When a owner put their adopt for trades, it means that they want to exchange their adopt for an other adopt. β¦ Set Price : Contrary to adopts auctions, an adopt who has a Set Price only have one price set. There's no auctions, there's just a fixed price to buy them. β¦ Swap : It means that an adopt owner is interested in exchanging characters within the same species or swapping one-off designs created by the same artist. - β¦ UFO :Β Up For Offers. If an adopt is UFO, it means that they're open for offers. They can be open to art offers, adopts offers, money offers, etc. β¦ EO : Entertaining Offers. It can have the same meaning as UFO or it either means that the character might not be easily accepted for offers. β¦ OTA :Β Offer To Adopt. Same meaning as UFO. β¦ UFS : Up For Sale. If an adopt is UFS, it means that the owner is only looking for money offers. The adopt can have a Set Price for this. β¦ NFS : Not For Sale. β¦ NFT : Not For Trade. β¦ OBO : Or Best Offer. It allows you to bid lower and potentially win. However, some misuse it as Or Better Offer, expecting higher bids to secure a win. β¦ FCFS : First Come First Served. Meaning that's the first person to claim that can get the adopt. β¦ Purge : It signifies that an adopt owner is interested in disposing of multiple designs simultaneously, aiming to clear out a collection or selection of designs. - β¦ Raffle : An adopt that is for Raffle is an adopt obtainable by participating in a giveaway. A Raffle is often free and have often little rules to follow to enter. The winner of the Raffle owns the adopt. β¦ Freebie : It's a free adopt. - β¦ Tent/Tentative : It's when an owner put their adopt for sale, for trade or for offers, but they're not sure about separating from them. People often do this to make window shopping. β¦ LF :Β Looking For. - β¦ OC :Β Original Character. Itβs basically a character design with their lore and story made by the owner. β¦ TBN : To Be Named. It's often used for designs and characters that haven't been given a name yet. β¦ TBA : To Be Added. It's commonly used when a person intends to include additional information about their character later. It can also be used in auctions, when the artist want to add the AB later, for example. β¦ POP (Popular) : It's used to refer to designs, species, or artists that are widely recognized and popular within a community. |

| β¦ Commissions : This entails an individual committing to purchase an item of equal or similar value to a character they receive from the seller. β¦ TOS : Terms of Service. It's a set of rules and guidelines that an artist creates, serving as an agreement between the buyer and the artist. β¦ Custom : A commission type involving the creation of a character's design according to the buyer's preferences. The buyer typically has full control over the design. - β¦ YCH :Β Your Character Here. This commission type offers premade poses for sale, and buyers can commission the artist to draw their adopt in the specified pose designed by the artist. β¦ Base : Typically a premade artwork with only line art created by artists. They are often offered for sale, allowing people to color the base and make their own modifications to the drawing. - β¦ Closed Species : Similar to a real-life species, but created by an artist with mystical characteristics. People cannot create their own designs for the closed species; they typically acquire them through the species owner's adoptables or by purchasing a MYO ticket. β¦ MYO : Make Your Own. It's a ticket that can be won or purchased, granting authorization to create a design within a Closed Species. β¦ Open Species : This implies that anyone is free to create their own character of the species without restrictions. |

| β¦ Humanoid :Β Characters that have a human-like form. They're not necessarily human, they can have extras forms that aren't human on them (ex: horns, tail, animal ears, etc). β¦ Anthro/Anthropomorphic : Characters that mostly have animal forms but have some human anatomy, like standing on their feet, having a human-like hand, etc. A great example for anthro characters is the Walt Disney Movie : Zootopia. β¦ Feral : Characters that have a total animal form, like real animals. They have no Humanoid traits. β¦ Furry : In the context of the online community, Furry refers to individuals who have an interest in anthropomorphic animals, which are animals with human-like qualities or characteristics. Furry enthusiasts may create or appreciate artwork, stories, and personas featuring these anthropomorphic animals. |
