Eúelpis is one of the Oneiroi, the many sons of Nyx. Like his name suggests, he is a hopeful being.
His body rests in the Land of Dreams, a section of Hades located near the river Lethe and borders the Fields of Asphodel. His pets, a goat and an elephant, watch over him. While his sleep is mostly blissful, he sometimes has night terrors and thrashes in his sleep. During one such incident, he broke off one horn from his goat and one tusk from his elephant. Holding onto the broken horn and ivory seems to comfort him in his sleep.
While his body sleeps most of the time, Eúelpis projects himself into sleeping minds and gives them dreams full of hope.
