he was relatively chill pre-tadpoling, but being suspicious of outsiders and on the surface which he really isn't used to or comfortable with, he's deeply untrusting. hasn't really realized that he's the leader of the group, he feels like his position in the group is tenuous and that as a deep gnome pretty much everyone on the surface is likely to screw him over if given the opportunity. makes quite uncharitable assumptions about all of his party members, but eventually starts to get closer to them and form genuine connections. it's slow going. he's squirrely, withdrawn, and hates open spaces
