Info:

Betzal belongs to a powerful noble family, one of the last Devil nobility families remaining. Pure bred devils with powerful dark magic flowing through their veins, the Akumas are well known throughout Crowe for their wealth and influence. Betzal is Master Akuma’s only son, and therefore the only heir to the family’s wealth and name. However, because of this, Betzal has always felt immense pressure from his father and the expectations placed upon him. Rarely has he ever agreed with his old-fashioned father, who has a habit of treating workers and servants as property. Betzal is a much gentler soul, a rare sight among such a dark bloodline. He believes that people should be free to choose what they want to do in life, and because of this he’s struggled with accepting his fate as the heir to his family’s status.

The Fallen Angel:

After being banished from Avarice, poor disgraced Viarrah found himself on the Akuma estate in Crowe. After being found by startled servants, Betzal was the first to try and talk to Viarrah. He approached the Angel very carefully, and after much convincing was able to persuade Viarrah to come into the mansion and get cleaned up. Slowly, he began to learn of what Viarrah had endured, and it wasn’t long before Master Akuma caught wind of the situation as well. Akuma was quick to see Viarrah for himself, and use an ancient spell to capture Viarrah’s tainted angelic soul and turn him into the spiritual property of the Akuma bloodline. Akuma and Betzal were now the only two who could command the Angel, and Viarrah was made into a servant in the mansion. Akuma tried to place Betzal in charge of Viarrah, tasking him with turning the stubborn Angel into a more submissive subordinate at any means, even through force if necessary. Betzal disagreed with his fathers methods, and instead tried to befriend Viarrah and show him compassion and understanding. The two quickly grew attached to each other, and became so close they even started sneaking around maintaining a romantic relationship. They hid their affection for each other from Akuma for as long as possible, but he eventually found out, and was furious. He did everything in his power to try and break the two apart, even arranging for Betzal to meet potential arranged marriage candidates in an attempt to sway him into choosing a more ‘refined’ and ‘worthy’ partner. Betzal wouldn’t have it however, and remained loyal to Viarrah.

Long Distance:

A few months after Akuma had discovered the relationship between Viarrah and Betzal, he had finally found the opportunity to put a larger stake in between them. An old business partner of his told him that they were starting up a new venture in Black Sea, a potentially profitable and useful endeavor, and they were looking for investors to help support it and get things started. The business was centered around underground dealings, related to the hybrid trade and renting out mercenaries for hire. The cover, however, was a building above the underground bunker that was going to be made to function as a brothel, a place to pay for the company of someone else. Akuma was more than willing to offer his help in the start up of this business, and along with offering money, he also sent Viarrah along with it. He reasoned to his friend that Viarrah had experience in sex work, as Akuma had been renting him out to other nobles for quite some time by then. He figured that such distance could be enough to split the two apart, and show his son that he needed to choose a different partner. Unable to refuse the demands of his master, Viarrah goes to Black Sea, and begins work at Lonely Nights (later to be known as House Rose), a bar and brothel covering for the shady underground dealings of its owner. Though the two are distraught by the distance put between them, they remain determined not to let it push them apart. Betzal begins sending letters and gifts to Viarrah through a family friend who he sends to visit the Angel often.
