The warm winds of Vacuo and the cool ocean water allowed her to swim and surf year round without a care. Though living out in the middle of the ocean was not without its demerits, scrolls were practically useless this far from the towers and pirates were as much a threat as any grimm attacks. Luckily, several huntsmen frequented the islands, most times hired by the chieftains or just passing through. If anything happened they were greatly compensated for their help. This was how Echo met Jay, a Huntsmen hailing from the north who came to her village on a job. After witnessing his skills the 14 year old approached him wanting to be taught how to fight, a skill she couldn't learn on the islands. But after being denied she managed to "sneak" her way onto Jay's ship back to the mainland and followed him till he relented and began training her with conditions, mainly going hole and getting permission from her parents first. So after this Echo traveled the world, expanding her knowledge as Jay trained her until she turned 17 and Jay sent her to his Alma Matter, Atlas Academy where she became a member of team AZRE.
