Ludolf is a monster hunter from a rural alpine town. He once had a wife and child, as well as a hunting partner, all of whom became estranged from him some time after an incident that left him permanently altered.
 He can't blame them - even before turning, he had earned himself quite the cruel reputation. 

Newly affected with lycanthropy, Ludolf lived in a remote forest cabin for a handful of years, rarely showing his face around others. Ludolf still carries malevolence in his heart, but the time he spent isolated has allowed him to self-reflect.

Sometime after his return to society, Ludolf happened across someone in grave danger and stepped in, saving her life. Her name was Ansel Rosen, an artist & herbalist from the neighboring city. 
Ludolf offered to be a partner and guard to Ansel, and the two have traveled together ever since.
