Profile
The constantly tearful yet star student of Doctor Ratio of the Intellegensia Guild. It is said that once when Dr. Ratio criticized her work and called her a fool, Niobe burst into tears and ran off, leaving the Doctor absolutely stupefied. Despite her young age, Niobe is incredibly brilliant in mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering, and biology. She seems to hold a great weight of proving herself on her shoulders, always teetering on the edge of tears. Recruited by Dr. Ratio himself from the ashes of her fallen planet at the hands of the Stellaron Hunters, many doubt her position under the infamous Veritas Ratio, but her sparks of stubborness and brilliance is what legitimizes her.

Niobe is known as the sweet, quiet genius who sits in nearly all of Dr. Ratio's classes, gazing up at him with a rapturous gaze only akin to that of worship. She clings to his side and basks in his praise as even the cold faced Dr. Ratio seems to soften to her over time. Her backstory is actually unknown by most students although known by all of the Intelligentsia Guild's staff, who are aware of her needs and triggers. Niobe doesn't fit in with the Guild's students, mostly because of her age and eccentricities, but she seemingly doesn't mind. Her childlike wonder and behavior are often looked over in favor of her status as a so called genius whenever Niobe accompanies Dr. Ratio as his representative student to any IPC delegation meeting.
Born to an aristocratic family in Xin-35, which used a Stellaron to seal a prophesized apocalypse. Her father was one of the oligrachs of the nation that united the small planet, and her older brother Pel worked to follow his footsteps. Niobe was a soft spoken, doted upon youngest daughter of the family and was close to her mother. When Kafka murdered the Oligarchs of Asfaeleia and stole the Stellaron, she unleased the apocalypse upon the planet. Half blinded by Kafka after she tried to protect the Stellaron, Niobe lived on the run with her brother for around one year. They barely got by, scrounging for supplies and avoiding monsters. Niobe broke her leg during this time, which never fully healed. Eventually, Pel sacrificed himself holding back the monsters when they were cornered. Shortly after, the Intelligentsia Guild entered Xin-35 to study the monsters. Seeing Dr. Veritas Ratio from afar, she was reminded of Pel and begged him to take her with him. Although disinterested and offering to take her to a safe place instead, she insisted and was eventually taken in by him.
Niobe struggled to fit in at the Guild. She received heavy psychological therapy from the horrors she had endured, but also physical therapy for her eye and leg. There were no other children her age, and Niobe was questioned from the beginning as Dr. Ratio's student. However, she continued to keep studying and struggling her way through her life, being so stubborn she refused to back down in any way. Dr. Ratio, although once having treated her so sternly she'd cry, began to soften to her as well and only made her more obsessed with him. She nearly worships her mentor, taking his side in every argument and begging for his attention and praise. Niobe has lost everything she loved, but still finds room in her heart to love all people and be concerned for others. She is bright and brilliant, loving to learn all things and legitimizing herself as Dr. Ratio's star student.
Veritas Ratio [ Teacher/Brother(?) ]
The often strict and heartless teacher that Niobe nearly worships. Niobe is anxious around him because his harsh words make her easily burst into tears, but after their "incident", Veritas seems to be softer around her, although that is not saying much. He recruited her as his student himself when Niobe latched himself to her and begged him to take her in.
Kafka [ Enemy ]
It was Kafka's pursuit of a Stellaron on Niobe's home planet that destroyed it and killed everyone she knew. Niobe sustained heavy injuries including the loss of her eye. She hates the Stellaron Hunters so passionately that she is thrown into a fit of rage at even their reminder.
Aventurine/The IPC [ Dislike ]
Although Dr. Ratio and the IPC have a good relation, Niobe does not like them. She has been to several socials as Dr. Ratio's student, and finds that many members of the IPC hide their expressions and true feelings, which makes her uncomfortable. Particularly dislikes Aventurine and avoids him, but also because Dr. Ratio told her to avoid him.
