Living in an underground criminal organization, he grew up being close friends with Flame Rose. They worked together in the nursery, taking care of both children and chao. Neither were very happy with their situations, though for different reasons. 

After Flame left he didn't have any friends left. Only his father who was constanly busy with work. Eventually, Austin left too. He set out to find where Flame had gone.
