Vaughn was raised in egypt around the temples and pyramids, he was the guard pet of a pharohs tomb, a modern day guard ofcourse, just to hep keep tourists in check. After a incident of grave robbers Vaugh was injured and air lifted with two other guard dogs and a guard to the city ASYUT where he was patched up. The injury was caused by one of the four grave robbers slicing the poor mutt's right wrist, making him collapse, the strain on the structure caused a collapse of rocks, which sent the grave robbers running, leaving Vau and the other two guard dogs on the ground, bleeding out, sun hit Vau's face as a guard was assisted by one of the injured guard dogs pulling Vaugh from the dust, his body covered in sand and bruises, the other guard dogs where air lifted, all survived, but Vaugh decided, after his 5 years of service, to take some time to himself. His injury healed, but the scar remained, he then went to the alley of dogs in the city, getting the scar covered with a tattoo of a misty city by the stray dogs. He now relaxed with them, travelling and resting to the best he can.

Zaahir was the guard dog who assisted the guard on pulling Vaughn out of the dust and collapsed building, Zaahir's leg was badly damaged due to it been crushed by a falling stone during the buildings collapse, he had to get the leg amputed, but still insisted on being a guard. He comes into the city with the guard dog programme every month to check up on Vaughn.
