The bastard son of a Canterlot unicorn noble and an earth pony from Ponyville. His father knew of his existence but never saw him, opting only to send funds to his mother to support them. His mother was severely mentally ill and blamed him for losing his father, abusing him greatly for much of his young life until Mars's childhood. His best friend, Honey, finally found out that Mars was being abused and told his own parents - Aristocrats from Canterlot who moved to Ponyville for a quieter life. They used their power to remove Mars from his mother's care and sent her to a mental institution. They also alerted Mars's father, who stopped sending her money and offered to take custody of Mars, but Mars refused and begged to stay with Honey's family. They agreed, and Mars was released to them. He loves acting, singing, and theater, as well as doing drag, and often attends formal events as Honey's plus-one, whcih is how he met Silver. They share a passionate night that leaves them both in love and began courting in earnest.
