Three thousand years ago, Amaryllis was created as a warrior angel, spawned from their mother, a noble angel. Compared to many other angels, she was remarkably young. She was destined to fight to protect heaven from threats and, a special task, she would descend to earth and protect sacred mortals from threats. One major threat was that of demons, trying to attack the mortals.
Amaryllis loved heaven, its beautiful architecture and wonderful angels. She loved fighting to protect it. She loved earth and her visits to fight for those that worship beings like her. She even loved her fights against the demons, as much as she despised their evil nature. Her life was perfect. How could she have known it all would've been ruined
My life? Well- It's Perfect.
Amaryllis fought in the same unit their whole life, surrounded by the same comrades. She never really expanded her friendship past the main four individuals from her unit. However, it all changed when she met Azalea on a mission on Earth, protecting a human together.
The chemistry was instant, the two quickly developing feelings for each other, but they struggled to express this for a few decades. When Amaryllis eventually confessed, the pair were inseparable, going on every mission together, talking to each other whenever they had breaks and visiting Earth together.
Amaryllis now saw Azalea as heaven itself. She was the thing she fought to protect. Heaven was not a kingdom or a god now, it was her. It was the beaming ray of sunshine she embraced. It was the strong warrior she fought alongside. It was the graceful dancer that showed her more joy than she had ever had. She vowed to protect her as long as she held place in the kingdom of the clouds.
You mean everything to me. You are my heaven
Demons. The scum of the earth. Personifications of evil incarnate. Those that roam below the stone. There are many names for the creatures Amaryllis would fight so often. However, their battles mostly took place on earth, a middle ground for the two species. This all changed one fateful day only four hundred years ago when demons broke the protective spell over heaven, breaching its pearly gates. The angels prayed to their god, praying for it to help cast the demons back but the god was nowhere to be seen. It was left to the angels to fight back. The battle raged for so long, legions of demons fighting against the angels, threatening to cast the kingdom of light into darkness. To take Amaryllis' sunshine away. She fought back alongside her lover for so long.
Amaryllis was hit by demonic magic from a Prince of Hell, one of the seven strongest demons that commanded legions of its own. Leviathan, the demon of Envy. She was one strike from being destroyed, her existence ceased just then, like the thousands of angels before her. Weakened, she could barely see anything before her, flashing in and out of consciousness. The last thing she saw was Azalea speaking with the masked prince, Leviathan. Had she changed sides? She turned around, tears streaming from her cheeks and hitting Amaryllis with an angelic glow. She fell from heaven, a long, painful fall as eyes opened on her wings and hands, horns sprouting from the sides of her face. Her halo shattered into a bright glow in the sky above Earth, forming into two deep red halos on her ankles like shackles. She crashed into a forest, flattening trees around her from the impact. Burdened with the belief that she had been betrayed by her angel.
From Azalea's perspective, however, the truth was much different. When Amaryllis had been hit, Azalea screamed, begging Leviathan to spare her life. She would do anything to spare her love. Leviathan, being a Prince of Hell, offered the angel a deal. His legion wouldn't be able to attack Amaryllis and she would be safe from all threats. However, she would have to fall. Azalea begged for any other options but Leviathan was stubborn, inches away from commanding his soldiers to attack. To keep her lover safe, she accepted the deal, attacking her with angelic magic. She watched her lover fall from heaven. Left to fight the demons alone.
Betrayal. It comes not from enemies but your closest..
Left to roam the mortal world, alone and afraid. The isolation only gave time for the bitterness to grow within them. They became more and more enraged as the days went by, only wanting to make things ‘right’ for themselves, taking revenge on Azalea and making the demons pay.
From Azalea's perspective, she continues to fight against the demons, against Leviathan, against the serpent itself. It will soon be 500 years of conflict, and the angels believe that their god will return to punish the demons when this year emerges. The angels just have to keep fighting. Many fight for their homeland, many fight for their families. Azalea fights for her lover, a fallen angel who despises her.
No matter how long it takes, I will find you.
