Ascelin comes from a family of 12; two parents and nine other siblings. As the youngest and the runt of the family, he ran away as a child, growing up on the streets alone.
He has lead a life of instability, but recently he's made connections he never thought he'd have.

Ascelin's boss is a cocky and arrogant man. He treats others unkindly and is feared for his power. Ascelin sighed a contract that he was too naive to understand when he was younger, making the hyena bound in metaphorical chains to Dutch.
In the past the two have worked together, not by choice but because they had to. This of course led them to having a strange relationship, but in the end it didn't exactly amount to anything meaningful. They are still in good standing with each other.
They met in an alleyway, Witty was spraypainting onto the side of a building and Ascelin instantly found the other amusing for doing it in broad daylight. He didn't know he'd fallen for the other hyena until he spoke about his feelings to a therapist; he ended up running straight to Witty's apartment to confess, resulting in them finally establishing their relationship.
Ascelin grew up with 9 other siblings on a small property with his two parents. He is the runt of the family, and the 10th child to be born. Growing up he wasn’t given the attention and care that he needed from his parents and in turn has the long term effects of not talking much and staying closed off from others. Ascelin at the age of 13 ran away from home, ending up moving about and never staying in one place. He picked up odd jobs and had runs in with the police from occasional crimes such as stealing and motor vehicle theft. Those crimes being the reason he found out he had psychic powers.
Ascelin stumbled upon the Underground City, a place located downtown and in the more sinister side of Station Square. This is where he met a man named Dutch; he was the Overseer of the entire place, the one who kept things in order and running. Baiting him into signing a contract that would force Ascelin at his side forever, the feline took advantage of Ascelin's naivety and would have control over the hyena ever since. He made Ascelin into his personal bodyguard.
Ascelin is currently unemployed after watching his boss get shot down by Shadow the Hedgehog and a team K9 member known as Enzu. They rescued him after he'd been held captive for over two months.

- He came into creation after reworking an old Undertale oc I had made as a kid!
- The name Ascelin has multiple meanings, however I liked the Germanic description of "Ash Tree" which I felt aligned well with the character.
- He's in the top five of my favorite ocs I've made!
