- Nori was born as a selkie princess.
- She discovered a special type of seaweed that, when consumed, allows her to extent the amount of time she's able to spend on land before needing to return to the sea. A regular amount of the seaweed extends the time by a week. Without the seaweed, she's able to spend seven weeks on land.
- The seaweed isn't particularly appetizing on its own. Sanji usually helps turn it into something more appealing.
- Her life's mission is to travel the world and try all the human cuisine she possibly can.
- The first time she went out on her own by ditching her retainer, she ended up at Baratie, where she ate her fill and then some. However, she wasn't aware that she would need to pay, and thus had to work off her debt. When he became aware of her singing abilities, Zeff had her work as a singer in the dining room.
- She spent a lot of time with Sanji while she worked there. He flirted a lot, of course, but as they grew closer, it wasn't with a true degree of seriousness. They were just good friends. She absolutely adores his cooking and nothing else compares.
- She would visit every so often after she worked off her debt and would always bring fish and/or shellfish with her. On one such visit, Sanji wasn't there, and Zeff informed her that he'd left with a group of pirates led by Monkey D. Luffy. She set off to find him but was always one step behind because she kept getting distracted by restaurants and sightseeing.
- She caught up with the Straw Hat Pirates around the Alabasta arc and essentially functions as a lifeguard, though she's also learned how to help repair the ship, since she's a selkie and can be underwater for longer than the others.
- Like the others, she gets sent to an island away from her friends during the Summit War saga. Its name is Festival Island and that's...pretty self-explanatory. Year-round festivals.
- For the two years during the timeskip, Nori learned to dance. Her innate charm as a selkie proves distracting to many people and she can use it to aid her friends. She's learned to incorporate the Dials into her performances.
- She can also control water to a degree, like merfolk and fishmen, and uses it to augment her dancing. In fights, she can use a water whip, but she more often uses bubbles. She's honed her skill so they're very tough! She can stand on them and use them to jump or cushion a fall, she can trap people in them (and carry her things in them, as she got the inspiration from Sabaody), and she can cause a temporary, deafening ringing in the ears with the sound of them popping. She can also just use them to be cute, if anyone cares.

- Because of her life's goal, she was immediately interested in him as a chef. She absolutely adores his cooking and claims she's never had anything better.
- When they meet Camie during the Sabaody arc, Nori is incredibly jealous, though she's initially not sure why.
- This is the arc where she finally admits that she's a selkie, not just a great swimmer. She admits it because slavers from Sabaody recognize her for what she is and try to kidnap her-- they don't succeed, but manage to steal her skin, so she's forced to share what the significance of her coat is. After Sanji and the Straw Hat Pirates help her get it back, she trusts him implicitly. Combining this with her jealousy of Camie, Nori realizes that she likes him as more than a friend.

- Was originally supposed to be a mermaid. That changed when Tiimo suggested selkie because I couldn't stop thinking about the concept.

- Her biggest fear: Losing her agency
- She's heard horror stories from other selkies, both about humans stealing their skins and about humans and fishmen enslaving other people, or abducting them, or worse. She's terrified that that will happen to her.
- In a haunted house, she'd be absolutely terrified. Would probably cry. Definitely clings to whoever she's with. She doesn't understand why humans like to scare themselves for fun!
