Wither is the master of a cult to which Void belongs. They used to be partners before Wither was blasted into space after a failed attempt to overthrow Megatron. After miraculously managing to survive on a lost moon, he urgently contacted Void who was still with the Decepticons as soon as he could. He proposed an alliance in which Void would work for him while secretly maintaining a mole role inside the Decepticons, ensuring a watchful eye over Megatron's domain. Believing that Wither had been killed, Void blindly accepted.
