Melaena, along with her father and siblings, contributed to the creation of the Lair. However, herself aspired to a simpler life than that of a powerful demoness. In fact, she had always been fascinated by the human world. Despite the disapproval of her family, she took on a human form and went to live at the surface while also checking on the Lair from time to time. She met a human whom she fell in love with, they eventually got engaged but she never told him about her true nature. She even got pregnant and couldn't be even more happy about it. That is, until her fiancé learnt who she really was. He freaked out, and she didn't know he knew about her being a demon. Fearing what would come out of their union, he pushed her down the stairs and Melaena had a miscarriage. She was desperate and hopeless, she realized how much humans feared and hated beings like her. She went back in the Lair, but kept on wandering at the surface, making herself invisible to humans, in search of what could stop making feel her so... Empty. Turns out it was a lost boy locked in a mental establishment. She felt both of them wouldn't feel complete until they helped each other, so she took care of him so their suffering would end. Later she met the man who was to be her husband. He had enchanted her so she would fall in love in him but turns out she actually loved him despite the spell.

- All of her blood is actually sandencre, she provides it for the beings living in the Lair.
- Her skin is super thick, which is why it doesn't look dark because of the sandrencre running through her body.
- Prefers loose drape-like dresses over anything tight.
- Doesn't bother to wear underwears.

- All lives are precious to her, except that of humans, she's completely careless about the Plague's activities.

- She may be a passive buuut she might have committed one particularly gruesome murder when she was wandering at the surface.
