The Lab and the Dads

Smudge & Tyoh, a recently married couple had finally begun to settle down. They did not have much plans for the coming future, only to take things in stride and help Johari become comfortable in their own skin. The days were predictable, each day Smudge would come back, helping to gather food for the pride. Then one day, he never showed up. He just vanished. It was a nightmare all over again, Tyoh and Johari had already lost Myra to such a fate, now another one of their own? The searches came about and brought about nothing. No trail, not scent, nothing. Then a month had passed. Smudge reappeared, three cubs cuddled in his mane but, he was not home. The lab had transported him close to Mwanga. Jioni was a good two day walk at best. With these little ones, he needed to find help and a wet nurse fast. Smudge came close to Mwanga’s border and was approached by a portal. They took him and his new children into the camp. Since Smudge was considered family to the empress, Senna and Embla offered help to nurse them cubs. A bird was sent out to inform Jioni of Smudge’s reappearance. There was relief and yet puzzlement, the cubs were said to resemble both Tyoh and Smudge. For the time being, Smudge resides in Mwanga with the children. That would remain their home until the cubs were weaned at about 6 months. Indira barely remembers her time in the lab. She remembers feeling cold, then warm, then squished, and then wrapped safely in a brown curly mane. She liked being in the curly mane. It was warm and safe. The lion connected to it was cool too. She is currently living her life with both her fathers and her siblings. what this life will throw at her, only time could tell.
