She is the daughter of a wonderbolt named Starry Eyes and a pegasus from ponyville named Cotton Sky. Upon falling in love they purchased a home in Cloudsdale. Stella's father had become a wonderbolt to get closer to the stars(A shame astronauts don't exist in mlp yet, he'd like them). He taught his daughter everything he knew about the night sky. Cotton Sky was very close with her daughter as well, and although Ste;;a didn't have the same appreciation of cotton candy as her mother did, she still enjoyed making and tasting it with her.

    Once she became old enough, she pleaded with her parents to transfer to Twilight's School of Friendship, where Starlight is the Headmaster. After much pleading, they agreed to send her to live with a family friend. It wasn't hard at all for her to fit in in the school. She excelled in kindness and generosity classes, and was quite ahead in the other areas as well. While being there, she met the very unicorn who was a student of Twilight Sparkle, Luster Dawn. Luster Dawn had transferred from the School of Gifted Unicorns once she decided to take her friendship lessons more seriously. Stella and Luster became quick friends. Luster still has a lot to learn about friendship, and her friend is always there to help and stop Luster from jumping to conclusions. Although Luster has certainly improved on her outlook of friendship from her first meeting with Princess Twilight Sparkle, she doesn't have any ponies truly close to her besides this mare.

    Deep down, Stella can't help but harbor a certain resentment for Luster. she feels guilty, but no matter what it won't go away. She excels in all aspects of friendship, she has so many friends, she is even helping Luster Dawn. But still. It's Luster who's Twilight's friendship pupil. She can't help but think deep down unicorns are still viewed as "better" than the pegasi and earth ponies. How many non-unicorn pupils had the princesses taken on? No matter how much the headmaster, or even the princess, compliments her, Her feelings won't go away. She will prove herself. Become better than Luster. Prove to Twilight She's worthy of a title. When she thinks this, she knows she's being an awful pony, but she can't help it.
