A triple-widowed professor of anthropology. The deaths of his past spouses were terrible accidents, all of them - but you can't exactly blame his students for the rumors.
Three marriages worth of baggage have left him a difficult person to get along with, and he knows it. He tries to be polite but the smile is hollow, his troubles go unvoiced. Easily annoyed, prone to confirmation bias and conspiratorial thinking. Treats the paranormal very seriously, has absolutely blamed it for his failings in the past. Is taking an extended sabbatical from his job after he absolutely lost it at a class he was teaching.
Wants to be better. Figures it's probably too late.
