Story
André was born and raised in Cobalt, Ontario. Though his family later moved to Sudbury in his teenage years.
Despite maintaining several social circles through highschool school alongside competitive hockey and lacrosse. André often preferred to be alone. Disappearing over weekends with camping gear the moment he had gotten his license.
Once he turned 18, he recieved his gun and hunting license and would spent a significant amount of time solo camping in the areas around Sudbury now that he was out of highschool. Living off the land for days at a time with skills and knowledge he had learned and developed over the years.
Eventually he attended university in Sudbury, completing his undergraduate in mining engineering following his long-term interest in geology. He would then work in the mines surrounding the city for a couple years. Taking an interest in and finding a knack with the explosives used to blast through the rock.
Though after only a couple years André left the mines and found himself attending a school in Ottawa. He quickly found himself attached at the hip to fellow student Cadogan "Spot" Howell. The two were quick to bond over their shared interests in geology and marine animals and inevitably quickly developed an incredibly co-dependant relationship.
André also had the great pleasure of reuniting with an old hockey friend, Cedar Bouchard in Ottawa. The two having played together in Sudbury when Cedar was with the Sudbury OHL team. The two regularly hung out on and off the ice, and is one of the few people that André feels truely comfortable around.
The dependancy on Spot is what lead André to join the military. With Spot deciding to dip his toe into a PMC after finishing his year at university, André knew that he needed genuine experience to follow Spot to this company.
He got his callsign in basic, a jab at his hometown. André took it in stride and began to prefer it over his legal name.
He took to his role as a Survey Technician quickly, having already done similar work for the mines. However it didn't take long for him to grow bored and see if his skills could be applied elsewhere. Which lead him to a much more fulfilling role as a combat engineer.
Later Cobalt would follow Spot into the world of Private Militia, joining Shadow Company after his contract with the CAF had ended.
During a mission in Mexico working alongside a foreign taskforce. Things went south as Spot defected from Shadow Company following an order to turn on the taskforce they had been working with. Cobalt was unaware of Spot's plans and was left behind. Confused and angry at the betrayal and abandonment, Cobalt stubbornly remained with his squad and Shadow Company.
He would continue with Shadow Company for several years before being forced to retire back into the geologic field after being caught in an explosion that left him unable to continue his career.
Later on, he got tired of rock hounding alone and redeemed some favours. Tracking Spot down wasn't easy. But eventually he was found and the two reconciled.
