Belladonna Wixx was born in the seaside port city of Nicodranis in Wildemount to a plague doctor half-tabaxi mother and a human undertaker father. Her family gained its wealth through the funerary business while their mother traveled to assist in war time medical emergencies. Magic is very important in their family, to the point of it being a requirement. Atropa, Bell’s younger brother completely lacked any talent with the learned magical arts so their father had to settle for leaving his future business to his daughter. Bell spent a majority of her childhood studying relentlessly, missing out on many cornerstone life events that most girls her age had. Bell eventually grew and went off to a prestigious magic school in the north that she excelled at expertly. Bell's family, while wealthy, were still common born and the noble children did not appreciate being shown up by “lower class folk” and tried to persuade her to step back. Bell however did not believe she would ever have to see any of these spoiled noble children again and just ignored them, and so she was ousted from her class. Bell spent a majority of time in the library when she wasn't practicing magic and began thinking about how unfair it all was that people died. There was a short period of time before she left for school where she ran the Funeral home in her fathers absence, she was there with so many families grieving for their lost loved ones. Bell wanted to know how she could help them, if there was a way to make it so that no one had to die. It was finals week, she was fed up with everything and decided that she was going to do something bad for once. Bell snuck into the restricted books section and found a single book out on a small reading nook. She opens it, curious, and a huge magical necromantic blast is released. Alarms in the library rang out and she was promptly arrested by the school's security. Bell who had no infractions before this was expelled for the casting of necromancy on school grounds and was promptly sent home. Atropa during her time away had taken over the Funeral Home and was the only one there at the time. Bell had returned home as if everything was normal. Atropa, even after multiple years of trying, displayed no magical talent but she had come to realize that while before he was just unable but now he was never going to be able to attend due to her actions. She decided to save face by attempting to get an adventurer job with the Gilded Compass in the meantime while she figured out how she was going to tell her parents that she had failed them.

  • Belladonna was named as such because their mother believed in the Tabaxi tradition that if you name your child after a poison it will act as a ward against that poison. Bell and her brother Atropa are named after the scientific word for deadly nightshade.
  • Bell has a lot of beef with the Raven Queen, the goddess of death. She believes that it is unfair that some groups of people get longer life spans than others. She equates it to giving a gift then stealing it back.
  • Bell prefers skeletons to zombies because she does not like how rotting corpses smell..
  • Every spell that Bell casts is flavored to be necromancy in some way. Her familiar was brought back from the corpse of Gremiska. He looks kind of like a disgruntled sphinx cat with fur on his stomach. Whenever Grimel dies he does not disappear into smoke, Bell has to grab his corpse and take it with her.
  • Bell's clerical magic does not come from a belief in any god but a direct connection to the Shadowfell linked directly to her soul. When she opened the book the burst of magic created that tether between them. When she was on the material plane, this was fine. However, when she was misted into Ravenloft the mists began to grate on her soul connection slowly killing her. She either needs to find a solution or leave Ravenloft.
Unfuck your undead guy, then we'll talk...
