Light Cone: Tiger Cub Lies In Wait
Jing Xiaoli is the eldest son of Jing Yuan and Su Baoyu, but is not a very well known individual because it has only been 16 years since his birth. His parents are not ashamed of him, but want to keep him behind closed doors away from the prying eyes of the public on Baoyu's side, and from the multitude of the Cloud Knights from Jing Yuan's side. This is really them trying to give him as much of a "normal" life as possible, without epithets like "The General's Son" or "The Son of Two Generals" which pressure him into following Jing Yuan's footsteps.
Xiaoli, being 16, struggles with the self-imposed pressure of his birth and feeling like he is a disappointment to his fathers, Jing Yuan in particular, because he isn't "being cultivated as an heir" despite having his name. This has significantly impacted his self-esteem, and it doesn't help that he compares himself with Yanqing, his father's retainer. Due to the lack of proper communication within the family, Jing Yuan has failed to convey to him that he doesn't have to try to make him proud, as he already was since his birth; and that he doesn't pressure him into following his footsteps because he wants Xiaoli to have the choice to make his own future.
He has two younger siblings: Daji, a brother at 8 years old; and Xingcai, a sister who is only a few months old.
