Adriel's name means "flock of God," which is also the title of his former show! FoG (which aired from late 1988-ish to 1990) was made for pretty nefarious purposes; it was a fundamentalist cult's way of indoctrinating kids into following their teachings. Adriel was the star, a good little lamb living in an idyllic community of religious sheep. Sinful creatures from outside the community (especially those damn goats-- more on them later) would try to influence him for the worse, but with the help of the totally trustworthy and not-at-all manipulative adults, he'd make the right choice every time! Until the director started to lose his faith, anyway. Soon, he began sneaking subtle rebellious messages into every episode. He even retconned Adriel into a goat, the very species his community hated most. (As for how exactly a family of sheep had a goat son... well, the implications were pretty grim.) Things came to a head during Flock of God's grand finale (inspired by Tad's gory finish a year earlier), which mostly consisted of the director burning the whole set. And all the puppets. Adriel was the sole survivor, and needless to say he was NOT a happy camper when he came to Scrapville. It was months before he would even speak, and he's still likely to black out if he sees a candle. Remiel (another puppet made by the same director) was the first one to get through to him, and treats him like a little brother. With their help, Adriel's improved a lot; even if his progress can be slow, he's getting better every day.
