quote or title here

One of a few of Iron Whale's skilled carpenters. She talks little when inland but forms close bonds to those in the crew that can handle her occassional jab.

Aldam has a fondness for good food and wooden trinkets. She resents the stuffy uptight mages, but generally doesn't mind mages wild or order. Be too meek, and she'll just ignore you.

Ivratian Navy

Personality

Aldam takes great pride in her work and will boast as much, however no one should be fool enough to think that she is blinded by her own ego. Aldam is always open to suggestions, granted the person knows what they're talking about. She would never go so far as to say her work is the best and she thinks she's far from being an expert - but she dare not undersell her worth. She can go through spells of overthinking however, becoming stuck into tryin to perfect something that doesn't need perfection and during these bouts of paranoia she forgets to eat and sleeps little. She prides herself in being honest though it bites her in back when that honesty is more often tactless, causing others to believe she means to undermine them - it doesn't help that her idea of a joke isn't so friendly to someone who may be insecure.

History

Aldam's homeland is not far from Faline. Her life was mundane by most standards, but lively enough. Her family had enough money to get by and enough money to pay for the odd mishap here and there, the two of her parents working together in the coal industry. Her father mined and her mother supervised transportation. Aldam however, never took interest in rock or metal but wood. She loved the smell of it, loved carving it into figures or nailing pieces together to make something new. This innate interest did not go unnoticed or unappreciated by her relatives, even if they struggled to give all the attention she craved. Garnering praise is somewhat difficult as a middle child of 5, even harder when you were known for the almost worst temper of the children (the award goes to the youngest. Of course.)

She remembers her childhood with fondness still, something she used to keep herself upright when the worst of life's tribulations came her way. Aldam was never known for her kindness. It wasn't like she was incapable of it, but most only saw her biting honesty and her attempts at playful jabs were not for the faint of heart. Her work never erred in quality, but sometimes fine craftsmanship can only get you so far if you lack the pleasantries to maintain it. She drank little, but got involved in barfights that didn't involve her. Yelled across the street when chasing out ungrateful customers, regardless of their status. Getting fined for her behavior was not something that surprised her.

Being framed for an assault that she tried to prevent was. Thrown in jail and her reputation barely above the water, Aldam struggled to get back on her feet. So when running her own business ran out of use, she turned to the sea. A certain boat wrecking captain would never fail to need a carpenter or two, and the pay was more than satisfactory. Even if she failed to meet his eyes for the most part or her ears instinctively pinned, he didn't seem to mind. Amused, actually.

Well... working for a lunatic is better than being broke.
