ᴹᴸᴾ Thorn Apple

MLP OC made as a part of a randomised word prompt + colour palete challenge between friends on discord :3 the word was "Illusion" and the colours are the 5 in the ref.

It was pretty hard for me to come up with something that matched “illusion” with those colours. They gave me flowery vibes, and when I think "illusion", I think cooler tones with brass and gold accents. But then I remembered the datura flower which has hallucinogenic properties. It’s actually a weed technically. It’s also known as a thornapple, which I decided should be her name :)

She was inspired by the datura, also known as devil's trumpets, which is a plant genus with other close relatives being angel's trumpets which I also used as inspo for details such as her hair gradient.

The plants are very poisonous and psychoactive, so I think Thorn Apple would be a very cold and aloof solitary unicorn that lives in the deepest reaches of the woods. She brews potions and poisons to take to town to sell at black markets occasionally. She appears to have some kind of disease or ailment that has inflicted her with blindness and mossy spots growing, but she has no trouble navigating, leading ponies to believe she can “see” via other means. She would be very adept with magic of course, so not only can she stave off her infection, but she can also inflict hallucinations upon other ponies - that’s where I took the “illusion” prompt
