Marin is estranged from the Anjema family due to coming out as transgender mere days before his arranged wedding. His father tried to force him to go through with the marriage anyways, claiming he was just being silly. The day of his wedding, he chooses to run away. Still in his wedding gown, he flees his family home and runs to the city. Unfortunately, he never really learned to take care of himself and doesn't fair well on his own for the first time. He collpases on the street and only survives thanks to the goodwill of a seamstress.

Aisling teaches him how to exist without servants taking care of him constantly and tries to get him to work as a seamstress as well. He doesn't take to it very well and instead becomes the book keeper for the salon
