Mosquito guy! I made him a few years back for fun (alongside a small slew of anthromorphized bugs), but later turned him into a D&D character for my friend's Hollow Knight campaign (I know next to nothing about the game but that's alright!)
He's specifically a male mosquito, so he doesn't suck blood and also has fluffy antennae. He had a mustache at one point to match the like, three proboscus thing on male mosquitoes?? but that's since been removed.
He's a soulcaster, lifeblood shaman, and specifically designed as a healer since our team didn't have any healers the last time we played a game. He's set under the fly race. Credits to homebrew for setting up stats for a Hollow Knight campaign!
The helmet and goggles are a must have! I don't draw his face without them.

Hit Points
  • Hit Dice: 1d8 per Soulcaster level

Soul Manipulation
At first level, you learn to harness your Soul for your own needs. At 1st level, you gain a number of Soul Charges as described in the Soulcaster Table. As an action, you can expend a number of Soul Charges to roll that same number of Soulcaster Hit Dice. Roll the dice, adding your CON modifier to each of them. You regain that amount of health. The Hit Dice are considered expended and must be regained as normal. You cannot use a number of Hit Dice greater than those you already have. You can use this aspect of this feature a number of times equal to your WIS modifier per short or long rest.

Spellcasting
Wielding the mysterious aspect of Soul, you can use Soulcaster spells. See Spells Rules for the general rules of spellcasting and the Spells Listing at the end of this class for the Soulcaster spell list. Preparing/Casting Spells
The Soulcaster table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your Soulcaster spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell’s level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.
You prepare the list of Soulcaster spells that are available for you to cast, choosing from the Soulcaster spell list. When you do so, choose a number of Soulcaster spells equal to your Wisdom modifier + your Soulcaster level (minimum of one spell). The spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots.
You can change your list of prepared spells when you finish a long rest. Preparing a new list of Soulcaster spells requires time spent meditating and researching for at least 1 minute per spell level for each spell on your list.
Spellcasting Ability
Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your Soulcaster spells. The power of your spells comes from your connection to your inner Soul. You use your Wisdom whenever a Soulcaster spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a Soulcaster spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.
  • Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier
  • Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Ritual Casting
You can cast a Soulcaster spell as a ritual if that spell has the ritual tag and you have the spell prepared.
Spellcasting Focus
You can use an arcane focus or a component pouch (see the Adventuring Gear section) as a spellcasting focus for your Soulcaster spells. With the approval of your Game Master, a snail’s shell or other unique item will also suffice.

Soulcaster Focus
At 2nd level, you develop affinity for certain forms of their Soul, as detailed at later in this class: The Dreamwalker, which strides across the line between the physical world and the spiritual; The Lifeblood Shaman, which focuses on healing magics to aid others; Finally, the Void Master, which wields a dark power to destroy foes. Your choice determines abilities attained when you gain levels in this class. You gain additional features at 5th, 10th and 14th level.

Soul Techniques
At 2nd Level, you gain a number of Techniques that utilize your Soul Charges. These Techniques harness your Soul in ways that defy logic. When you gain the feature, you learn 2 Soul Techniques as listed below, and additional ones at levels 5, 8 and 14. Additionally, when you gain a Soulcaster Level, you can exchange one technique with another one. Some options are restricted by subclass or Soulcaster level.

Soul Recovery
At 3rd level, you gain the ability to recover your soul more easily. Whenever you hit an enemy with a Melee Weapon attack, you can regain 1 Soul Charge. You can only recover one charge per turn, and you cannot exceed your maximum number of charges in this way.
Additionally, whenever you roll a Natural 20 on a for a skill check, attack roll or saving throw, you can regain 1 Soul Charge, but never more than your maximum.

It's clear that Pilot is an outsider. He lives more for himself and doesn't engage with most of the deities unless he feels like it. He is solitary and independent, but simultaneously seems to latch onto a leader figure to follow around and listen to (Ermine in current times). Pilot is friendly, rarely ever displaying any genuine rage, hatred, or sorrow on his face. It'd be easy to make the mistake of thinking that this grinning jokester doesn't even feel such things. He is agreeable and willing to negotiate, and can be quite persuasive when he needs to be. He's a great liar and has no qualms hiding things- he's a smuggler and a lifeblood mingler, afterall. Despite his business model, he always prioritizes assisting others before money or even himself sometimes, and hates to see anyone suffer. As an (potentially unlicensed?) doctor, he feels the need to treat everyone, and hates the infection. He doesn't like being powerless to help someone, and is constantly dissecting those around him to pinpoint things he may be able to assist with. A trusting fellow, Pilot makes a faithful friend and at least a useful or entertaining ally to have. Pilot has always struggled with a feeling of loneliness, something which he has grown accustomed to and which is difficult to discern from him. He is used to the reactions to his Lifeblood as well, and doesn't care that much at this point. However, he still feels an odd sort of appreciation to those who see it as genuinely good or useful rather than trying to, well, kill him over it, meaning he has a very positive opinion of his party and the Mantis Tribe.
Even in combat he can find something to laugh about. He prioritizes healing and assisting his teammates as a healer over dealing damage, although he most certainly isn't defenseless. He uses magic, Lifeblood, his whip, and his flame dagger to fight, and has multiple dangerous spells in his arsenal. Of course, he gets more serious the closer he and his team are to defeat, but is always trying to lighten to mood and ease their tensionsfor them. Pilot is confident in himself but still cautious in his tactics. He sticks close to Ermine, the heavy hitter, in order to quickly provide healing and because he has the most confidence in her abilities.

    • Dislikes seeing others suffer. Therefore hates the infections and is very willing to work for the Pale King to stop it.

    • While he doesn't personally hate the residents, he doesn't particularly enjoy being scorned and hunted down over Lifeblood.

    • Least favorite color. Also quickly became associated with the infection.

Goals

  • Stop the infection
    • Find out the source of the infection, uproot it to stop its spread, and then cure all those afflicted. Does not care whether he gets credits for it or not; it is his personal duty.
  • Support Ermine (and Spiderling)
    • Do anything in his power to help them. Doesn't ever want them to be in pain- whether that's physical or emotional.
  • Find Auntie
    • He hasn't heard from his aunt in forever. He doesn't know whether he'll ever see her again. It's more of a hope than a goal now.

Fears

  • Loss
    • Losing his friends (and singular family member). He would rather abandon them or sacrifice himself than leave them to a foul fate of any kind.
  • Helplessness
    • Feeling absolutely powerless causes an oddly ill feeling to rise in his gut, and leaves his head spinning with flames. While he'll keep up the laughing persona, it makes him horribly angry and a bit scared at the same time.
  • Becoming infected
    • While he has a special advantage against becoming infected, he's not immune. He's never been infected yet and is overly cautious about it- he even took the blast of an explosion over breathing it in to dodge it, despite the fact he can cure himself later. He wants to save his supplies to cure his teammates over himself, but doesn't want to lose his mind. He wants to be only himself.

Skills & Abilities

  • Medicine
    • A well trained doctor. He can 100% still treat patients without using Lifeblood (and usually does), it's just shown more use lately.
  • Curing
    • Turns out he can cure the infection using Lifeblood (as evidenced by Spiderling SEVERAL times...), although it doesn't grant immunity.
  • Persuasion
    • Using his high charisma, he ran a pretty successful business model. A little shocking, considering his lack of socialization. He is rather persuasive and clever, and also makes a good liar.
  • Fire Knife
    • Great lighting source and great weapon. Vidne gave it to him to threaten him with to assure that Ermine wouldn't be harmed, and then let him keep it. Cool.
  • Resolve
    • Although impulsive, Pilot does prefer to think things through first, determining the best course of action. He is a little stubborn at times, and will commit to a decision relentlessly unless instructed not to by someone he respects. He also refuses to let himself be bossed around, despite his follower nature.

Trivia

  • Helmet was gifted to him by his aunt. Only takes it off to shower, but washes it in the shower with him...
  • Owns a cloak, but rarely ever wears it. It was also from Auntie.
  • Has never known his parents or any other family members in that regard, only aunt.
  • Backpack is casually stuffed to the brim with moss filled with infected Lifeblood. I realized later that it kinda matches his last name (Mossblood) LOL.
  • Still has half a tea cookie in his bag.

Pilot has a gray body, head, hands, and feet. His legs, arms, and neck are striped with black and white. He has a triplet of long narrow spikes extending from the back of his neck and his elbows. He has four arms, a pair of clear wings, and a probiscus which is almost always coiled in a sorta geometric manner (rather than curved). He is always wearing his helmet and his goggles over his eyes (I wonder if they leave an ident). He has a pair of fluffy white antennae peeking out from under the back of his helmet, and at one point had a mustache at one point to match the like, three proboscus thing on male mosquitoes?? but that's since been removed. He has blue eyes.
Pretty casual usually. Wears collared short sleeve shirts, or his armor over a tanktop. Typically wears shorts or flared pants. Again, always wearing his helmet and goggles. Even in his sleep. Owns a cloak, but rarely wears it.
