Neve wears their emotions upon their sleeve. And boy do they have big sleeves and big feelings. Overall a friendly and chipper person. A bit of a chatterbox, so making conversation with them is quite easy. On most days you can find them chirping a happy tune. Though their emotions function on a delicate scale that is easily tipped into the other direction. Super easily brought to tears no matter whether they are from joy or sadness. Nothing a good hug or their favorite sweets won’t help though.
They do struggle with quite a bit of self doubt and don’t have the strongest self-image. Often caught in doubt about their own actions and motives. Relying heavily on others to help them make any final decisions. At least they are never discouraged for too long, determined to give anything and anyone a second chance.
History
Childhood
Xester is a mostly quiet and quaint little town. Beautiful to the eye, and with a limited population it meant most people kind of knew each other. It made everything feel safe and from a young age onwards they would run around with other local kids, playing and just generally having fun. The big red leaf piles that would gather up during fall were their personal favorite.
Though we all know that kids can be cruel, even in peaceful places, and being very small and a little awkward made Neve an easy target. Prone to getting picked on and bullied, their forgiving nature wasn’t helpful in this as it just became an invitation to keep going and escalating. No matter how many chances Neve gave these particularly two nasty kids, they continued to pick on them, often leaving the poor little kid in tears and wailing back to their parents. Who tried their best to keep Neve safe, but couldn’t be there 24/7 to shoo the bullies away. Relief came in the form of a much older kid from a local druid community. Showing no mercy and going feral when they found out what had been going on. It scared the bullies away for sure and might have scared Neve too but they were looking wide-eyed with admiration. Forever clinging on to their new best friend, Eden, who they would soon follow everywhere they went.
Unfortunately for the little bird their struggles didn’t end there. As many know there was and is a grave illness that has spread throughout the land, Themba Sick.. Even skilled healers and alchemists couldn’t find a cure. So when both their parents fell ill, despite their best efforts, they were both soon lost leaving the young Neve on their own. Shortly at least as Eden, who had remained close and a support throughout all of it, had keyed in her dad. Who without a sliver of doubt adopted Neve to become part of the family. Neve was too young to fully understand the situation, struggling to process the sudden loss. Simply feeling as if their parents would return one day.
Teen/Young adulthood
Despite the best effort of the loving community of druids, who luckily had no issue with the addition, Neve always remained to feel a bit like an outsider while growing up. Trying their best to learn the language and do as the druids did but.. They simply didn’t have the same connections to nature. Instead the little bird clung on to the idea of seeing their parents again one day. While they didn’t assume it was possible, it sparked curiosities that they hadn’t had before and brought on an eagerness for learning.
This was their driving motivation to apply to a college within Anasi! It would give them a chance to find their own motivations for life and figure out who they were. It did take a little bit of extra convincing but they were lucky enough to find programs that suited their interests and needs! Now mostly staying within Anasi to attend their classes they still visit Xester a lot. Especially if their precious big sister is in town.

Overwhelming Grief

Relationships
✝ Father & Mother
Biological Father & Mother - They/Him & She/Her
Neve doesn't remember all too much from their parents but they remember the overwhelming feeling of LOVE. Losing both their father and mother to the bane at a very young age. Recently Neve has travelled with a group to the spirit world, where they were able to see both of them and get some closure. The spirits of their parents passed on after this event, it truly meant the world
Father
Adoptive Father - He/Him
Eden's father took no time to take in little Neve. For this they will always be grateful, being treated like one of his own made it easy to see him as their own parent too. The two are close and Neve often relies on him for emotional feedback and support.
Teacher
Druid Community Parent - They/them
They don't relate to the community way of upbringing too much, while they respect them and listen to them they don't regard them as their parent or such.
Druid Elder
Community Leader - She/Her
The druids live very differently from what Neve was used to and they never feel like they fully belong. The elder made sure to make them feel welcome but honestly they scare Neve a little bit.
