It was theorized that Invert manifested from Saiph's inner turmoils, and pain, during the time that he was held captive in Tartarus.

Invert only got powerful the more pain Saiph felt, the stronger he got manifested. At first it was just taking control of Saiph's mind, until he finally got a full, physical manifestation. He aims to steal Saiph's power for his own, believing that the other cannot handle his own power.
