Profile
Real Name: A bunch of Binary Code, pretty much unable to be deciphered nor does he remember/know it himself.
Nickname(s): Scratch (only refer to him as this)
Species: Robot
Age: Ageless, mentally around late 20s
Gender/Pronouns: Genderless, any pronouns but prefers He/Him
Personality: Scratch is quite hard to read, being extremely protective over the only things he cares about. Life to him is confusing, the world he lives in and the humans and animals confuse him to no end and will likely never fully understand, but he tries. He is dangerous, can act rather feral and never thinks before any of his actions. If something even seems slightly like a threat, he takes care of it. He is afraid of most humans. He’s mean, intimidating, weary and swift. He only exists by pure coincidence, something even he questions every day.
Backstory: In a world being taken over by the sun as it slowly expands, heat was something to fear. A solar apocalypse had begun and humans and resources became scarce within a couple of years. Before the massive solar flare that destroyed all electronics, humans relied heavily on mindless robots to take care of them and the jobs that were being destroyed left and right as humans could no longer find energy to work. The factory that mass produced these working mindless robots ended up destroyed by a massive solar flare that paused all creation of robots permanently. Though one machine malfunctioned during the solar flare, causing a burst of energy to flow through one of the robots it was creating, giving sentience to Scratch. Scratch and the machine briefly knew each other, the machine was called Mother, something Scratch would always remember. Before the machine stopped functioning entirely, it told Scratch about the dangerous world he was about to live in and to protect himself and himself only. The machine also referred to Scratch as ‘hints of an angel’, something else that had Scratch wondering forever afterwards. His back seems to have two slots that look as if wings should have been there, but the machine lost function before it could even give him the wings. However, something different from all other robots created was the fact that Scratch was given a tail and very sharp, powerful claws. Once he was dumped into the real world when the machine stopped working, he was immediately scared and confused. His trouble with humans began almost immediately as he was chased out of the now pointless machine factory by people who wanted to know and understand how this robot gained any form of sentience after a solar flare that knocked out the power grid for every electronic and robot ever made. His fear led to him killing the humans before escaping, which now gives humans a reason to fear him.
Present: Scratch now lives with a human called Ro that was somehow the only human that Scratch struggled to attack, he couldn’t bring himself to do so no matter how much his mind kept repeating what the machine told him. Ro helped Scratch learn a lot about the world around him, even gaining a huge fascination with stars and stargazing even though he cannot comprehend the size and amount of stars in the sky. It simply relaxes him. He protects Ro as much as he possibly can, saving him in situations when necessary. He acts very cat-like, stealthy and loves to climb and reach the highest point of any given building or object. He liked being as far away from humans as possible, besides Ro of course. He also tolerates a smaller robot called Max that he is confused by, seeing as he is sentient as well and does not understand how, since he knows Max was man made and he was machine made. He tries not to think about it much. He just lives to protect these two and while he still may not have life and existence figured out yet, he learns more each day and the first emotion he truly began to understand was love. But only towards Ro. The feeling is too complex for him, as are most feelings, but he still does his best. Scratch also likes to make fun of just how fragile humans are, thinking it is funny how easily humans fall to illness and injury. While Ro gets annoyed by that, he knows Scratch and his understanding of humans is very slim.
Relationships:
- Ro (friends OC): Ro is Scratch’s partner; the only human Scratch has had any sort of positive feelings for. Ro found Scratch in a scrapyard of metal and other objects that Scratch once treated as his own territory and would attack anyone who went nearby. Though he could not find it in himself to attack Ro once he met him. They both had an odd bit of sympathy for the other, Scratch of course having no idea why he felt that way towards a human. They are now very happy together and extremely protective of each other.
- Max: Scratch tolerates Max. He was not super thrilled when he and Ro found Max in the woods, did not want anything to do with him and often states that he would not care if anything happened to Max. (He in fact would care very much).
- Ripley: The only other human that Scratch trusts, though only barely. He is a bit iffy about him and refuses to meet him in person in fear of attacking and/or killing him. Only trusting him because he is Ro’s closest and only friend and Ripley takes care of Ro with food and first aid, and Scratch does not want to take that from Ro, even if he can be pretty skeptical at times.
Trivia:
- Even though his design looks as if he only has one eye, he does in fact have two eyes. One side of his face is just extremely sun damaged.
- His screen face can display any emotions but does glitch often. His screen can also become fully red if he becomes angry.
- He is waterproof, water does not affect him or make him rust, but he still hates and avoids water whenever possible.
- He has a Snow Leopard form that can also be drawn instead of his robot self.
- He experiences intense uncanny valley vibes when he sees dead robots laying around.
- Makes a lot of glitchy robotic sounds
- Always interested in old technology, always asking about how a certain device or electronic functioned.
- Likes to hang out in empty and abandoned buildings, especially stores and malls.
- Kind of inspired by the song One Way or Another by Blondie
