An elf was not supposed to be in love with a demon. more over have a relationship with them.
the punishment to this was banishment in the life cycle.
their story was simple, a demon who got tired of his duties as one of the most highest and noble demon/ dark mage family, wandered off away from his home realm and ended up at the turf of elves.
the turf of elves have this certain magic around that makes demon lose their powers as well as becoming weak and vulnerable so he was attacked. On the verge of death, Maya saved him and helped him get back to his world. the short time spent made the demon fall for Maya as well as Maya falling for him.
When the Head Ef found out, without hesitation , Maya was to be be headed. It was tradition to banish the 'tainted' elves from the life cycle by separating their tainted mind and soul (head ) from their energy / magic source ( body ). the head was to be impaled on a bamboo stick and put to the swamp graves ( this needed to be done quickly to avoid the head getting ' possessed ' by ghouls for elf heads still have their souls in them as well a magic residues for 24 hours and ghouls loves eating elf souls, while the body is to be returned to the divine lake where elves magic source is.
Before Maya's head can be impaled on the bamboo, Souji arrives to retrieve her head. killing off the ordered elf since it wouldnt give him his Dear maya's head.
Returning home, a loyal servant and friend advises him to quickly find a body for her for she only has 6 hours left until her soul is completely gone.
They planned to give her a new body in order to save her.
but thing is, they dont have time to search for a new suitable body for his dearest.
so instead souji casts a permanent shapeshifting spell on himself, turning himself to look exactly like Maya.
after doing so, only 4 hours left, he told his servant to severe his head once he transfers his soul on to a doll that Maya made of him.
against his will, the servant had no choice but to do whatever his master says. loyal to him until the end.
with his head severed, his body that was permanently shapeshifted to maya's is now free to be given a new head, casting the last magic he could with his mini sized form.
maya was revived. but Souji no longer has a body. the once majestic and all powerful pure blooded demon and dark mage, now just a living talking arm sized doll.
the lovers + the servant has a new mission now. to find a perfect new vessel for Souji.
after hundreds of years, they found one.
