Oriion is the son of Starbii and Kuma and little brother to Bonney and S-Bear. He was born a year and a half after the two were married. He was peculiar as a kid, being nonverbal until the age of 4 when he spoke his words but before then, he showed antisocial behavior and preferred to play on his own, likely being neurodivergent as a doctor suggested. He also had immense shyness and anxiety when not around his parents or siblings, Starbii and Kuma opting to have him home schooled for half his childhood while working to accommodate his needs after he was bullied for being weird and larger than all the other kids.
Since he was at home most of the time, he buried himself in books and the importance of knowledge, taking a huge special interest in science and technology thanks to Vegapunk's wonderful inventions. This inspired the young boy to want to become an inventor himself, spending a lot of his free time creating various things. Seeing how gifted their son was, Starbii and Kuma eventually enrolled him into a school that focused on the subjects he followed when he was 15.
While less anxiety stricken thanks to Starbii and Kuma being patient with him and helping him open up to others, Oriion managed to make a few friends in this prestigious school though he struggled with bullying. Thanks to Kuma’s pacifistic approach to many things that he was taught while growing up, he never really fought back, opting instead to befriend his bullies which turned out positive in the end, instilling into Oriion that friendship and understanding is the way to go.
As an adult, Oriion founded his own research lab with money that he got from his sister Bonney on her pirate escapades for treasure. He recruited many scientists and engineers, including the friends he's made in the school he went to, forming his own crew he goes on expeditions with around the world, learning about the many cultures that surround the world.
While Oriion may be intelligent, he's very aloof and socially awkward thanks to being autistic. While he does communicate better as an adult, he still struggles with communicating his wants and needs properly, sometimes coming off as blunt or indifferent. He also tends to forget basic hygiene and feeding himself when he's extremely fixated on his research work or inventions. When something goes wrong, namely his inventions, he'll tend to shut down and go nonverbal for a long while, contemplating on what went wrong and how to fix it. Outside of that however, he's a pretty optimistic guy and always wants to see the good in others, even if they've hurt him or others. He rarely ever gets mad but when he does, his Starling powers go berserk and it's hard to get him to calm down.
