Fidelia, the self-proclaimed Master Diviner, is a woman who has long since gone blind to the world around her. In exchange of her natural eyesight, she is able to steal glimpses into the future and what it might hold.

Under her bindings is a person who weeps for those who do not yet know what is to come. Yet at the same time Fidelia has made no efforts to go out of her way to help those who do not seek her out on their own accord. To the Master Diviner, self-improvement can only be stared if one is willing to take the first step - no matter how difficult that leap might be.

Personality

True Neutral | INTJ

Fidelia believes herself to be judge, jury and executioner. They see you for what you are and nothing less. The Diviner is a stoic figure that hides behind a silken mask. She does well not to let you see the distraught emotions bubbling beneath the surface.

Altruistic, perhaps even overzealous at times, Fidelia is passion about her work. They believe she has the capacity to help just about anyone. That is if you are willing to seek her out. Despite being blessed with divination; she hasn't made much of an effort to actively seek out others in attempts to help. If speaking plainly, she views those who aren't willing to help themselves as a weak link - something that would be better removed than left dangling on. Those who aren't willing to seek out help will find none from her.

Fidelia is a hard woman to read. With half of her face hidden, its genuinely difficult to decipher what she's thinking at any given moment. More often than not, she sports a half-hearted smile, a sorry attempt to hide the grief that rots within her heart.

At her very core, Fidelia is stricken with a particular kind of grief that is hard for her to explain. She would attest it to the visions (that's if she was to ever open up about it). She views her magic as both a blessing and a curse - a feeling she would not wish upon anyone else. If you were to remove her bindings, you would find a face stained with golden tears. Hiding such things makes her smile seem much more reassuring.

History

tw: ---

There is not much Fidelia could tell you of her younger, formative years. Most of those memories have long since been lost to time, blocked out by both a constant pain and the desire to thrive. They could not tell you what color her mother's eyes are or when exactly her father started to grow grey. Nor could she tell you what her younger siblings look like. All are bitter topics she would prefer not to discuss.

According to her mother, Fidelia was an easy child. The easiest out of all their children. They were the kind that made the first-time parents want one or two more. (Fidelia would later become the oldest out of five.) She had always been a quiet child, one that preferred to watch and listen. Even when brought into this world, she did not immediately cry out. In fact, as child, she never cried at all.

Next comes what Fidelia could tell you. They remember becoming stricken with an intense grief at a young age. The kind that weighed heavy on one's shoulders. The kind that made a once peaceful child wail out in the middle of the night. The kind that made her scream out, choking on her words, that she saw her mother die. She saw her father fall ill and waste away. There were accidents she envisioned her siblings fall victim to. Out of three, one came true. Five children soon became four. There wasn't anything that could have been done to help the wailing Fidelia, blaming herself for not acting on what she saw sooner. Lullabies and sweet words did little to soothe what she had seen.

Ever since the first time her magic reared its ugly head, Fidelia was left with a sour taste in her mouth. It plagued her every waking moment, only amplifying worse at nice when she wished to get away from it all. Soon her eyes began to grow weary and sore. She cried for hours upon hours. Days soon turned into weeks, and she found little to no reprieve from it all. Despite how fast she had been whisked away to train under The Order, the damage had already been done. At the age of 10, she lost her eyesight completely, her magic taking a large physical toll on her body.

With the loss of sight soon came a peace she had not felt in years. Her nights soon became somewhat peaceful again. Her days certainly became more bearable, now blind to the realities around her. Binding her eyes soon became a choice she made for herself. According to her mother and father, Fidelia believed it was the only way to continue offering some kind of peace from the grief she was cursed with. While the visions still danced within her mind, being both physically and metaphorically blind could at least shield her from the true realities she could not stop.

Now Fidelia acts as a Diviner. Still living within Namarast, they have made themselves a nice little living within the city. She has been known to accept anyone who actively seeks her out - those who serve The Order, and even those who might not, can possibly find guidance from the blind Diviner.

Trivia

  • Fidelia's home has turned into a makeshift "shrine" of some sort. Still residing in Namarast, her home doesn't look like much of a home at all once inside. Trinkets and other symbols of Destiny can be found within her home. Frankly, at first glance, it's hard to tell anyone lives there at all.
    • Fidelia's youngest sibling, a non-mage, acts as an assistant to the Diviner.
  • Despite being the oldest of her siblings, Fidelia has turned away her right to being the head of her house.
  • Fidelia, at times, has an odd way of speaking. What should be simple statements often sound as if she's asking a question instead.
  • A true neutral, at the end of the day. Fidelia is concerned most about what will or won't benefit her. While forth coming with most information, she still keeps a few cards close to her chest.

A diviner, Fidelia is able to catch quick glimpses into the future. Knowing what she knows has caused her to become stricken with an intense grief, often crying tears of gold underneath her silk bindings. At this point in time, with it being difficult for her to pinpoint the exact outcome (as well as definite dates and times), she is only capable of listing out a variety of futures - all outcomes differing on one's actions. For now, she can give a vague understanding of what is to come, thus allowing others to change the course they are on if they so desire.

It should be noted that Fidelia is not capable of changing one's future by force or by any other means. They are only able to provide advice and guidance from an outsider's standpoint. On top of that, Fidelia is also only willing to help those who wish to help themselves - she will not actively seek out others to provide her insight.

Costs

  • Magic has a constant physical effect on the caster, whether it is in use or not. (3) Fidelia has long since gone blind as a result of her magic. Would be considered legally blind by most standards. If they were to take a substantial break from their magic, its unsure if their eyesight would even be restored.
    • Also to be noted, the halos of eyes she sports are false eyes! As a defense mechanism, no matter how one is looking at her, it appears as if her "eyes" are always following movement around her. Though while they are capable of blinking and moving/responding to stimuli, they offer do not sight of any kind.
  • Magic use reduces the caster's mobility or reflexes. (1) Fidelia becomes vulnerable when in the process of using her magic. Because of this she will only preform divination on ground they are familiar with.
  • Magic use fatigues the caster. (1) Depending on how long she spends in the divination state, Fidelia can become easily drained and weary.

WHAT THE FUTURE MIGHT HOLD

  • With more power...Fidelia will be better equipped to condense the number of futures she sees. (i.e. at the moment, she might list 5-6 possible futures. with more power, she could limit it to 2-3.)
  • With more power...Fidelia will be able to attune herself better to the wishes and desires of her divination subject.
  • With more discipline...Fidelia will be better able to pinpoint exact times and dates during divination.
  • With more discipline...Fidelia will be able to possibly pinpoint what exactly causes one's future to change - for both better and for worse. (i.e. an even in particular or a decision they might make.)
