Previously a noble with a golden heart, Valerius took the power of darkness and made it his after all of his other options didn’t work out as intended. This caused his personality to be corrupted into something much more sinister; a cunning & devilish smile now painting his face. Valerius will use his powers to manipulate the hearts of those around him for his own goals, although whether he is doing it intentionally or not is a mystery. If they are useless, the souls will be reaped.
Character
Past self
Valerius was known to be fairly valorous, jumping into every opportunity possible to save someone in need. In fact, he previously had the reputation of a charming prince, one that wanted to help out the princesses & even the usual people with all the abilities he could ever gather. And, this was what had caused his downfall. The overwhelming desire to help his people caused him to turn towards the darkness, and then the golden heart he had was tainted.
Corruption of the Soul
To be able to continue helping the ones he had seen as those he needed to serve, Valerius turned towards the forbidden to gain the power needed to defeat the plague that had hurt his people for so long. Unfortunately, though, that same power caused him to be lost in his path, unable to find a way to go back to the noble path he had started to follow.
Mysterious
His actions and words hide some sort of twisted secret behind them. Valerius does not express anything beyond the image he wants to sell to the people around him. Though he seems to be very confident and charismatic, something much more twisted & tragic hides behind his smile.
Devilish
“Why would you do this?” “Because I want to, of course.”
This is a very common conversation Valerius would have with those who find out his “true” intentions. Devilish are his actions, seeking to manipulate the hearts around him for his own enrichment then for power before doing it all over again. Lure, manipulate, absorb, repeat. Only the most keen can notice the demonic strings that control his body.
Story
The best for the people.
There was a legend running in Lumiphare about a noble hero who sacrificed everything for his people, even his own sanity and integrity. In an attempt to save them from evil & destruction, this hero fought all obstacles he could before being defeated by a strong opponent. In an attempt to gain more power against that opponent, the hero made a pact with an ancient demon to gain more power. Unfortunately, though, this power caused his goals to be corrupted. Since then, this hero seeks more power for selfish purposes rather than for the sake of the innocent.

Basic abilities
Valerius was previously a human who had some abilities to fight, though he was quite an all-rounder before becoming a demon. Since then, however, he gained superhuman abilities, as well as the ability to float and the ability to see in the dark. Other than that, nothing too particular…if one doesn’t take into account the power he acquired.
Demon Blessings
He has the particular ability to use his magic to temporarily mind control those around him, usually through words or through items of bribery imbibed with dark magic. Not only that, but his scythe also allows him to reap the souls of those who have escaped his control and use them to fuel his power. Aside from that, his eyes are able to hypnotize those who look at them for long enough and his halo can read into people’s hearts. Despite this, Valerius’s powers seem limited and that a lot of his full potential is held back by the strings of fate that control him.

- Valerius means strong or healthy and is of Latin origin. Dietrich means ruler of the people in German.
- He will never admit that he sometimes hears voices, especially during his sleep & in his dreams. It is highly implied that a lot of his actions do not necessarily come from him but from the darkness that took over him.
- Scythes are his most preferred weapon especially after gaining the power of darkness, though he can also use a staff to amplify his magic or a sword to fight closer if needed. Otherwise, he isn't exactly the best at fighting.
- When he was still human, Valerius didn't quite have anything particularly outstandng when it comes to his battle abilities, in fact one could say he was pretty decent at everything and didn't particularly master much.
- The power of darkness also comes with corruption on all over his body. Usually, this is mostly visible on his face and on his neck, but his left arm and his right leg are also greatly infected as well. His claws can retract, although due to him not being used to this new energy, doesn't usually make them shorter.
- Despite Valerius's noble background, he is not picky and will take anything he wants, no matter the "value".
