One of the foremost dwarven bowyers (there aren't many). Few would guess that (maybe some would) that Veric had grown up an orphan and spent his youth cheating at dice games and performing petty thefts to get by. Eventually he got far enough on the wrong side of the law that his choices were prison or time spent serving in the cities defense force. It promised room, board and opportunities to learn marketable skills. It did not promise, but did deliver on, a shocking large amount of fieldwork, and skirmishing with terrors of the deep. During this time he grew to highly appreciate the distance a crossbow could offer between him and a Mindflayer or a Bulette. His affection for crossbows and their maintenance eventually lead him to an apprenticeship within the guild artisans. Where he currently makes his living while traveling with his bodyguard Elwin.

Trivia

• In retrospect Veric feels that prison also offered room, board, opportunities to learn marketable skills, and was most likely safer.
• If you pay the right man enough you can change your last name to whatever you like and purge your criminal record.
• Surprisingly his skills as a jeweler come up more often than his skills as a bowyer. But he still gets to sell of the occasional piece and decorate his home with the remainder.
• Still engages in some gambling with a dash of cheating. Old habits die so hard, especially when they can be so profitable. Should be fine. So long as the guild doesn't notice.
• Performs a lot of material acquisitions for his guild which leads to a great deal of travel.
• Beginning to dabble in magic-craft with the help of Elwin, so far to mixed results.
• Keeps up with a lot of his contacts from his youth, most of which are criminal.
