How are things going on grandpa's farm?

I'm managing, mom. It's a lot of work. The farm keeps me busy most of the time, but it feels good to be back in Pelican Town.

The neighbors are really supportive, and they miss grandpa a lot too. Marnie and Willy stopped by the other day to help me move some of his stuff. I found some old photo albums if you want them, mostly from the summers Gus and I spent on the farm.

It's still hard to believe both grandpa and Gus are gone.

If it's too much, you can always come home. Your dad and I miss you, June.

They both started off on the wrong foot. Shane thought she was a spoiled city girl coming in to take over her grandpa's farm, and June thought he was a tactless asshole - it took a while for them to warm up to each other, but oddly enough, June found a kindred spirit in Shane. They're both a little too sad, and a little too uncertain for their own good, and when they're together June doesn't have to be so "happy all the time" or "okay," they can just sit on the docks and drown their worries in cheap beer. Not the healthiest friendship, but Shane always keeps things real and that's something June genuinely appreciates about him.

Abigail

Her first friend in Pelican town, Abigail was a bit of an oddball, but June liked that about her - she was always down to explore the mines, to go fishing way after the sun had set, and to basically charge off into the unknown. She's adventurous, and all around, a reliable and fun friend to hangout with. It's easy to forget the rest of the world when they're hacking away at slimes or just stargazing by the lake at night, and that's something about Abigal that June appreciates a lot.

They both moved to the valley to "run away" from their old lives. June has pretty much found another kindred spirit in Leah - June hasn't exactly said it to her out loud, but June admires all the hardwork Leah has put into her little cabin, into her art, and into the town's community garden. Leah might not feel like it, but June wishes she could be half as put-together as her and looks up to Leah.
