Ren Lane

Every town needs its juvenile delinquent. As is common in strange places like the notably weird California, Ren Lane is an extreme case of an otherwise normal phenomenon. He single-handedly made up the juvenile hall population of his town for a number of years, and even now into his young adulthood barely dodges legal repercussion for his excessive lifestyle. Tending more towards being a loner, Ren tends to opt for the company of his cousins, particularly Rancor, and tends to hang about their workplace when not occupied with whatever suspicious business he has in the forests all the time. He likes working on his bike and building things.

Given his history of less-than-reasonable actions, Ren wasn't wholly surprised when fingers started pointing at him to indicate he was to blame for the onset of disappearances around town. Even if he knew he hadn't even met anyone on any of those missing posters, his past and all the time he spends in the forests around town definitely make him an easy target. He was more surprised that he wasn't the only one being pointed at--for the first time in his life, Ren "Renegade" Lane had solidarity in the local burnout/dropout/whatever, John Magalhães. Even though they didn't instantly connect and become the best of friends like Ren had sort-of secretly hoped, their paths did wind up crossing after the disappearance of John's sister, Jill. After word got out about her new missing status, John started a search party with some of his bandmates, Lainey and Jerico, and wound up running into Ren in the depths of the redwoods. Recruited to John's cause (only SLIGHTLY begrudgingly--Ren also has some relatives that disappeared leading up to this point, so he figured it couldn't hurt to help), Ren finds himself with his first real group of friends. Sort of.
