Story: Born to a Cherokee woman and Mexican man, no one is quite sure how Boone ended up alone in the woods when he was only a few weeks old. Taken in by a pair of well-off, Danish immigrants, he was their pride and joy, the couple always turning a blind eye to his troublemaking ways. This is, of course, until he crossed a line, one of his antics resulting in a death and a bounty on his name.

Fleeing his home, Maddock ended up in Valentine, where he would meet a rather confused man who he named John Doe. The two stuck together largely out of convenience, going on to form a small, but rather successful bandit gang.
