Profile

Fix Simply was born with a nerve disease that his family could not afford to get fixed.  His legs have never worked at all and he's always needed nerve boosters in his left arm to keep it moving right.  Luckily these days that kind of tech is decent enough that he can just wear a mechanical sleeve over his arm that compensates for it.  And, y'know, wheelchairs are just as effective as ever.  But, y'know, it could be better, right? That's what motivated him to get into robotics engineering.  He worked for Razrtech for quite a few years, helping develop both home utility robots as well as mechanical assistance devices.

And then the rumors of layoffs came around.  Everybody was nervous about it but a few names had specifically leaked.  Fix's was one of them.  So he and a few others more or less organized a heist.  The ultimate office supply theft on their way out.  It's how he managed to get a hold of the parts for his dream project.  A remote robot, fully immersively controllable through VR, allowing him to move in ways he's always dreamed.  It... it also happens to be designed after his fursona.  You know how it is.  This is basically the ultimate fursuit.

Secretly it's a little bit janky looking, but that's a secret because everybody is connected to The Veil through a chip implant, which basically projects the internet over top of everything with AR, and a little bit of weird post-apocalyptic bullshit.  Basically he's put a photoshop overlay over top of his robot so it looks cooler.  His sword is not literally on fire.

These days he does freelance work.  Engineering projects, programming help, corporate infiltration for when a combat robot would help.  Normal stuff.

On the side, he's been getting sick more often lately.  He's sometimes feeling a bit more sluggish, like when the nerve boosters aren't working so great. But all over.
But the weird part is he's also been feeling way more comfortable controlling the robot, almost like he were moving his own body.

ARC 1 - THE WORLD'S SMOOTHEST MAN

Fix was hired alongside a mystical woodsman named Reboot Cipher by a wannabe runner named C4tharsis to help rescue her boyfriend from somewhere within the Gillette Corporation. Fix himself stayed behind while giving his bunny a blue paintjob with the Gillette logo across the chest, to try and blend in as a company robot, infiltrating the main building through a shaving convention in a public space attached to it. Fix made contact with somebody from their old job named Sidney from Accounting, who would give him and his buddies some stolen employee passes in exchange for a couple of Veil-engineered hair eating giant moths.  After some shenanigans, the moths were chased into a bathroom before being successfully wrangled by Reboot.  Fix was going to make the exchange, but suddenly felt ill due to interactions with strange Veil constructs.  The glitching of the surrounding area was strange, but even more strange was the robot vomiting.  Reboot and C4t took the opportunity to take the passes and save the moths at the same time, and everybody ran in the confusion to further within the facility. Reboot sent the moths away to his personal realm, because you can have one of those made of internet these days.

Infiltrating the building proper, at first it seemed like a normal office building, but the deeper the group infiltrated, the stranger things got.  Giant maggots feeding on a mysterious substance (which upon investigation gives hair a beautiful shine and is partially made of the Veil itself).  Then a literal jungle of hair, filled with creatures made entirely of hair. A hair tiger escaped from the jungle and caused havoc, which caused Donovan, the World's Smoothest Man's top merc, to need to check it out. The group absconded before investigating deeper into the facility.

Another maggot, but this one larger than any they'd seen before.  C4t and Reboot looked at the maggot while Fix moved along a conveyor belt to see where strange growths on the maggot were being carried.  Turned out they were making the maggot growths into the gel, that was being fed to other maggots, and despite the headache from dealing with all this veil-injected bullshit, it was definitely extremely bullshit, so he shut down the whole factory before rushing back to the others, who upon hearing the tampering alarms decided to quickly rescue the maggot to Reboot's realm.  Fix showed up, feeling slightly fuzzier than a robot should, and the three headed deeper down into a trap door the maggot was covering.

Another forest of hair, this one looking more majestic thanks to internet AR nonsense, and flashes of the 'ghost' of C4t's boyfriend, and eventually him in a big vat of liquid.  Fix promptly dives deeper into the Veil to hack the system and try to disconnect the vat from its controls, but each connection he cut caused the digital room to flood.  Coordinating a bit with the others to make sure the boyfriend was safe in the process, Fix disconnects from his connection after cutting the last connection and nearly drowning in data.  Having found the boyfriend and retrieved him (albeit unconscious), the building started falling apart, as this man it turns out was keeping all of their veil magical monster nonsense actuallly held together. The quickest way back was determined to be through Reboot's magical realm, which was great, except C4t is unable to interact with the Veil, and needed help travelling through a realm that she literally could not see.  Fix more or less tackled them through the first way, but helped keep the portal open while she powered through the rest of it blind.

Drowning in internet and travelling through and entirely digital world haven't been doing great for Fix's condition, and his robot at this point feels alarmingly more organic than robotic.  Donovan shows up riding a hair tiger, wielding a big sword, and a really cool battle ensues in which Fix's robot gets critically wounded, and Fix feels it himself too.  It's cool though, the wound heals as more metal turns to flesh and fur.  He gets the instinct to flee and catches up with the others later, lying about everything being totally cool.

Fix feels weaker than ever, his robot looks more lifelike than ever, and more concerningly, even without his controller setup equipped, he can feel things his robot feels.

ARC 2 - YOU'RE AT THE PARTY (in progress)

Fix has been working out a bit -- he's not dead yet and needs to keep his health up.  And between that sort of thing, he's also been doing more jobs. Just small stuff. Whatever you might need a ninja bunny robot to handle, but not so much corporate espionage as previously.  A few smash and grabs, that sort of thing.  Pays the bills.  Spending a lot more time with Muffler, also a former RazrTech employee who went more immediately into criminal stuff, and an expert at vehicle mods.  She's cool.  He's also been talking with his mom, because if things go bad, it'd suck if she just got kinda hit with the news of it completely unaware.  Exactly what was discussed is not quite known.

Fix gets invited to a cool party for people who work at RazrTech, which is weird, because he doesn't any more, although a lot of former employees linked by the fact that they are also fuckin furries have also been invited, for some reason.  He can bring two guests, so he invites Muffler, who probably could find some good stuff to take advantage of with a legit invitation into a rich person place, and Reboot, who has been conscripted by moon people to investigate something going on at the party.  C4th also gets invited separately, as part of the entertainment, after having become a wanted terrorist from blowing up the Gilette building and levelling up into wild hobo.  She's been fine, probably.

Meanwhile, another former work buddy, Mark, has been conscripted into using his ability to suck up to superiors to listen in on why Fix has really been invited to this party, and went above and beyond.  Enough so that now he's deathly afraid he dug too deep and somebody knows.  Asks some questions about if Fix knows why people make fursonas, hands a stack of stolen documents to Fix, and is told to go to Fix's van to hide out.  It'll be fine.
