Judah Goldthread

Judah Goldthread is a kind, passionate soul. He adores animals and gardening, he cares deeply about those around him, and he is by the standards of his peers a purehearted, noble hero unafraid of any danger.

These traits have led him to the position of Head Keeper of the Chosen Order, an order of paladins who join adventurers to cleanse darkness and evil from the world. Despite their current nonviolent methods, they're feared by villains and maligned by those heroes who fight for the love of the game. Judah is held up as their figurehead- the worst of their bunch, a hero so blinded by the light of their Justice they cannot see the harm they really do.

Judah is not blinded, however. He sees the impact the Order has- the harmful effect it has on adventuring writ large. That is precisely why Judah leads it.

His kindness is not an act, not a mask hiding malignant evil. Judah is warmhearted and compassionate, and he cares about long-term change. That is why he was assigned to his mission. The Golden Path- the faith to which the Order clings- was the spark that led to the Purifiers, the group that caused the Age of Fear and attempted the killing of two Elder Gods. Judah was reassigned to the position of Head Seeker to lead the Golden Path away from bigotry and violence towards more accepting ideals. He's sacrificed his old mission as a passionate hero, his relationship with his nemesis, and any chance barring the far future of living for himself. His job requires him to encourage compassion and understanding without changing so suddenly the people he was sent to keep from power decide to split off and form their own Order.

Judah faces his duty with compassionate pride, and embraces what must be done.... but he yearns for the day he's succeeded, and he can retire to his old duties.
