Profile
The prodigious warrior with the mysterious power of Apex flowers, Sagebrush is a highly respected presence in the IceWing army. Despite her circle ranking, they are given respect fitting of the highest ranking dragons in the kingdom. With their strange disappearance, Sage is torn between finding a way home and living their dream since dragonethood of being a pirate.
"I will continue to fight for what's right, for who else will?"
Sagebrush is a whimsical and cheerful IceWing. She has a reputation for being the most bubbly soldier in the barracks, as well as the one who sings the loudest at pubs. They are known among the other soldiers as the one any of them can go to when something is bothering them. She is a comforting presence, and finds making friends easy. Sage is quite the competitive and lively dragon, often turning mundane every-day tasks into contests or games. Despite their allegiance to the army, and sheer respect for her commanding officers, they have a lifelong fascination with pirates. They have always dreamt of joining a crew of sea-faring dragons one day; they still hold on to that hope, yet doesn’t want to abandon her post and soldier friends. She can be sarcastic at times, but is rarely mean-spirited. They are not easily flustered, and will play along with almost any dragon if she finds them amusing enough. She has a policy of respecting their opponents unless they are a sworn enemy, often choosing to show mercy to a defeated rival.

Sage is a sleek IceWing with a long tail. Their wings are long and a little narrower than most other IceWings, but her flight is unimpacted. Her legs are short but strong, with her front legs being a little longer than their back legs.

Sage is sometimes spotted wearing crystalized ice flowers. These flowers connect back to her Apex powers and make them feel better physically when they wear them, due to their healing properties. When she wears them, they sit along her neck, head, and tail. Additionally, she sometimes wears her soldier armor. The armor consists of a helmet, chestplate, gauntlets, and tail plating. These are made of leather and thick, heavy metal. The chestplate holds a bright sapphire in the center, standard for all soldiers.
Sage has no scars, having used her healing flowers to cure their wounds before they can scar over.
Sagebrush wields a standard-issue IceWing army spear. They are masterful with her use of the weapon.
N/A
Sage is quite proficient with this power. They appreciate the ability and love using it to make decorative flowers. She hates having to us them, but is glad that they can help others.
Like almost all IceWings, Sage has the ability to breath a cloud of freezing liquid when cold enough. This cloud will freeze anything that it comes in contact with, including dragon scales. This breath has the potential to be strong enough to combat even SkyWing's fire. Sage is not proficient enough with this natural weapon to achieve such cold clouds, but they are still able to cause some serious damage.
Sage has been training in the IceWing army for most of their life. She was one of the top cadets before graduation, and continues to be admired for their bravery and power. While they are far from the strongest IceWing to ever fly, she is more than capable of holding their own in an altercation.
Aside from her talon-to-talon training, they are also able to use their Apex flowers to cause small bursts of damage to opponents. She is a somewhat feared soldier in the barracks, since this power is so mysterious and has the potential to be so volatile.
PROLOGUE
Sagebrush hatched to Alpine and Yuki of the IceWings in the northern village of Where-The-Elk-Bugle. No one in her family is entirely certain who their mother was, but they loved her fathers and siblings very much. They grew up alongside her siblings, Silver and Cirrus. While Cirrus was always a comforting and kind presence in Sage’s life, Silver was a lot harsher. Sage still loved their sister, but found it a bit hard to talk to her sometimes. Cirrus was the dragon that they constantly leaned on, always able to share whatever troubled them with him. They got on well with their grandparents, Alpine’s mother and father, Aurora and Verglas. The two elder IceWings always held high standards for their granddragonets, making up for the seeming lack of expectations from their fathers. Despite them constantly pushing their own ambitions onto Sage and her siblings, they genuinely loved them all and wanted what was best for them. Sage has particular memories of Verglas telling marvelous tales of past kingdoms, wars, forbidden loves, and prophecies. They were always interested in what stories their grandfather had to tell, but especially loved his retelling of famous pirate tales. Her love for the sea-faring dragons stemmed from his stories, and she remembers them fondly to this day.

- Verglas's stories instilled the admiration of pirates in Sagebrush.
CHAPTER I
"Everything good ends."
Sage’s peaceful days were over before they were even five. With rising tensions between the IceWings and HiveWings, Cirrus and Silver were called off to join the IceWing army. It wasn’t long after they departed that the family received a report that Silver was determined to be MIA. Sage was devastated by the news, and began to train on their own. She was dead set on avenging her sister, and eventually asked their fathers if she could go to the nearby cadet academy. Although Alpine and Yuki were hesitant at first, they eventually agreed. Many younger dragonets had left the village for the academy, and surely it would be beneficial to start training at an earlier age.
Sagebrush adapted easily to the academy in Where-The-Glaciers-Glide. They had little issue with the militaristic environment, and performed well in their classes. She met a few other dragonets, two by the names of Quartz and Peak becoming her closest friends. The young dragonet and her friends graduated in the top ten percent of their class, receiving praise from officers and soldiers alike.
"The sun is strong, but the moon always has its time to shine."
CHAPTER II
"The night gets darker before the daybreak."
HiveWing-IceWing skirmishes grew more common as Sage and their friends grew stronger. They didn’t see much action, but what they witnessed on the battlefield was more than enough for the trio. It was during one of the skirmishes towards the end of the hostility that Quartz was captured by a HiveWing commander named Sirex. With Peak severely injured and Sage too busy healing their friend with her flowers of ice, they were too slow to stop him. Sage and Peak swore revenge on the commander, swearing that they’d recover Quartz if it was the last thing they ever did.
Sagebrush continues to serve in the army alongside Peak. Although their desire for avenging her sister and friend has subsided slightly in the last few years, she still holds out hope of seeing either of them again. It has been many years since they saw their family, and has little understanding of the strange new world that she seems to have found themself in. Despite all the challenges they have faced, she tries to maintain a playful and cheerful energy- if everyone else can only focus on the negative, it’s up to them to shine light on the positive.
