LEON K. SCOTT
Leon is a very secretive man. He likes to keep his past to himself, and struggles to admit certain aspects of his character, even ones that are blatantly obvious. This is due to the vigorous training he experienced in the army, growing him from a nervous young man searching for guidance into the tough leader he is now. Trained by his father figure, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree, as he became almost a perfect younger version of the mentor who taught him everything he knew. It made him resilient, physically and mentally, using tough love to encourage him to never quit and get up even if he feels like he’s about to drop dead. He feels a need to take charge in every situation, while open to suggestions from others, he’ll usually make the final decision as he naturally assumes this role. Leon also assumes the role of the protector, instinctively placing himself in the line of fire to keep others out of it. Despite his training and negative experiences in the army, Leon has not let that shift his moral compass. He has a very defined sense of justice, and an unwavering resolve to do good. Unfortunately, this leads him to have a very sensitive ego and, unlike his demeanor would suggest, a lack of confidence in his own abilities (mostly because he is quite short and not naturally very strong). Any failure or mistake he makes is a mark on his character to him, which leads him to try and ‘make amends’ for them by training himself harder to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Generally, he is a very closed off but well intentioned man, only looking to serve justice in a world devoid of it.

BIOGRAPHY:

Leon had a tough hand dealt to him at the start of his life. He was raised by a single mother, with a mysterious father who left after a one night stand with his mother. To this day, he doesn’t know who his father is. His mother struggled to keep the both of them afloat, frustrated and blaming Leon as the reason why his father left, her misplaced anger led to her becoming so disattached to Leon she almost resented him. During this time, she fell into an unfortunate alcohol addiction, leading to a very young Leon taking the role of her caretaker most of the time. Despite her neglectful treatment of him, he would always hope that she would change her mind about him, leading to him looking after her right up until the end of highschool where he finally cut her off after joining the police academy.

After leaving his childhood home, things did begin to look up for him as he desperately sought guidance and companionship. Thankfully, he found it in 2 fellow cadets (though one he disliked due to his very aggressive almost bullying behavior) and his mentor. As part of the training for the police academy, Leon and his peers were sent to spend a few months training in the army under General Fiore. Despite his short stature and disappointing physical fitness in comparison to the rest of the troop, General Fiore took a shine to Leon. He trained him to the bone, encouraging him to continue after hours with him one on one, using tough love and yelling to keep him going. Leon latched onto the General, seeing him as the strong authoritative guide he’d always needed. During the training, he managed to deliver above and beyond what the General expected, passing with flying colors and deciding to transfer to the army rather than completing his police training.

For the next few years, he worked with the General, going on a couple of excursion missions with him, with one eventually leading to Leon needing to abandon a severely injured General for the sake of living himself. This distraught him, as he believed the man was dead by his hands. He had very little time after this to recuperate, as a couple more months after that, an intense nuclear blast began the apocalypse that has been raging on ever since, forcing the ex-army man to instead become a private investigator, protecting the wastelanders of the make-shift city he’s residing in now.

BAG'S GROOVE
OSCAR PETERSON
Leon has protected Claire since she was 9, practically raising her until she was 19 years old. As the president’s daughter, he was tasked to protect her as the old government hid from the apocalyptic world due to his connections with the army. He has taken this role very seriously, becoming an older brother figure to her as he’s teaching her how to survive, and being there for anything she needs. He has a soft spot for her, blatantly obvious to outsiders as he both physically and emotionally protects her from any harm that should come to her. Though she annoys him very frequently, he does love her, and will very easily lay down his life for her. She means the most to him in the world.
Probably his most tested relationship, they started off despising each other. More specifically, Leon hated how Darnell would intentionally butt heads with him and would do things to piss him off. Leon was also frustrated with how little Darnell would listen to and respect him, feeling like Darnell would get him and Claire killed one day. Physically, they also have fought a few times due to boiling tensions and they have had multiple screaming matches. However, Darnell has shown a strange understanding for Leon, leading him to have more tolerance for him. While not exactly friends, they are loyal to each other and will help each other when needed. The best way to describe them is hardcore frenemies.
Juno and Leon have a very interesting relationship, initially starting with Leon finding Juno mind-numbingly boring and with Juno finding Leon to be nothing but a ginormous prick. However, after they both have relationship troubles, they find some strange solace in each other. They talk more and more, figuring out they have a lot more in common than they originally thought. Leon especially is surprised by Juno’s intelligence, finding it to be an extremely attractive quality in him. They have a fling for a while, until both of them go back to their respective partners very amicably. Juno pushes the boundaries of a friend, but whatever they are to him, Leon cares very deeply for them. He would never admit to sleeping with him though, nor would he outwardly admit how much he does care about them.
