Lukas is a superhuman, and a dedicated man who cares deeply for his friends and feels deep fury at his foes. Sounds dramatic? It's because his job is kind of intense - he co-leads the Revolution Alliance, a group of Superhumans that now operates to combat the unethical dealings of the DSR and fringe groups that seek to harm superhumans. Has killed a man! Many times! Only recently realized he is gay, his resting state is Worried About Something. He will offer a supportive word if you need it, or perhaps will make you breakfast.

Experiences emotions very profoundly, but works hard to keep his reactions in check most of the time. Does his best to be reasonable and courteous. It takes a lot to make him fly off the handle, but it's just as hard to make him back down afterwards.

Lukas started life as a sweet, puppylike kid and that hasn't been entirely crushed out of him. He's deeply loyal, protective, supportive, sincere - he's not a confident liar most of the time, and will do his best to be cordial and polite when the situation calls for it. On the flip side, he holds a grudge like no other and isn't shy about voicing his disdain when he has to be around people he outright doesn't like. He's happiest when his People™ are all right - he will worry over and care for his loved ones diligently. In brighter situations, he can be goofy and playful, but he rarely has the opportunity. Insults or threats aimed at him do little to nothing, but threats to his friends get under his skin quickly. Be nice, and you'll have a fairly pleasant guy to deal with; be a jackass, and he won't forget it.

Dust Manipulation

Lukas can exhibit psychic control over very small, lightweight things - namely sand, dust, and other dry particulate matter. His strength comes from being able to manipulate these objects in massive quantities. He can turn piles of sand, fine gravel, or dust into a maelstrom of psychic power, stopping bullets, lifting and throwing larger objects, and manipulating other people, but if water is introduced, he loses his grip over the particulates. His weaknesses with this power are moisture and distance; he can only manipulate sand in a seven foot radius of his body. Reaching out with his arms or legs can increase the radius by that much.

This is the power Lukas has had the longest. He can use it both very forcefully and very finely, flipping cars and picking locks with relatively equal ease.

LIFE MANIPULATION

Lukas, when he focuses or meditates, can sense the energy of living things around him. The more he leans into this power, the further he can sense. Additionally, he can tap into this energy, and begin to sap the power of living things. The more he draws this energy, the harder it is on his body - overuse of this power leads to migraines, nerve pain, nausea, and eventual unconsciousness. When he draws this power, it can be used immediately by his body to heal any wounds he's recieved. The very last energy keeping people and animals alive is highly concentrated, and if he forces himself to draw this, the "kickback" from this sudden energy spike will multiply the ill effects of overusing this power tenfold.

When making skin-to-skin contact with another living thing, he can transfer some of his own stored energy to that new target. While any excess energy that he's drawn from elsewhere will discharge through this method automatically, he can feed his own life force through in the same way. This energy will heal or encourage growth in whoever or whatever it is fed into.

Lukas was born to a teen mom in Florida, and was adopted by a pair of affluent doctors soon after his birth - Gene and Greg Smith. After Greg recieved a job offer in Oregon, the family moved out west when Lukas was a toddler. This highly educated couple raised an absolute nerd of a boy, but he was outgoing and charming and never found it hard to make friends. When his powers developed, he started idly making sure his surroundings were tidy and dust-free; when he opened up to his parents about his supernatural abilities, they accepted him wholly. Things were pretty good for Young Lukas, despite being a superhuman without a superhuman support network.

Lukas met a boy a year older than him during high school; his name was Robert Jackson, and he was a calm and serious football player that contrasted the outgoing, cheery and goofy nerd that was Lukas. After Lukas helped him with his studies, the ice between them was broken, and they formed a fast friendship. (Lukas wouldn't realize this until many years later, but he had a huge crush on Robert.) Lukas didn't disclose his powers to Robert, but they were easy to hide - nobody knew about them, in fact, except for the Smiths. There was a problem, though.

The Superhuman War

Robert had intended to enlist in the United States military to pay for his college education. Lukas was a year younger, but in his infatuation and attatchment made a very foolish decision - he decided, powers be damned, he would enlist, too, to stay close to his best friend. Everything seemed as if it would turn out fine, but then the Superhuman War broke out. Lukas found himself on the side that would betray him if they knew what he was.

Eventually, their unit saw combat, and eventually they ran into a Super too strong to take down with guns. Robert was killed by a metal-controlling Super (remember this super, he's important later) and Lukas had to intervene with his dust powers to save the rest of his unit. Stricken with grief, when half of his unit turned on him, he didn't take the opportunity to flee when those still loyal to him tried to cover for him. Lukas was apprehended by the DSR, and he was recorded as killed in action alongside Robert - although, obviously, no body was provided to his family.

While secretly incarcerated, Lukas was subject to the whims of the DSR lab he was assigned to. His subpowers emerged under repeated stress and testing, his eyes were bleached yellow, and his mental health deteriorated massively. When the lab was attacked and liberated by the efforts of other supers, Lukas fled, and gradually made his way back to Oregon. Unfortunately, he discovered that in the three years he'd been in the labs, his parents had died and his life as he knew it was gone. His estranged uncle threw a few of his belongings at him before threatening to call the police, and nobody else in town was willing to help him.

The following years were sink-or-swim; drifting place to place, struggling with his mental health and how to survive as a fugitive who was officially Dead, Lukas had several close calls as he got his feet back beneath him. He developed a panic response to swimming, but otherwise managed to strengthen his abilities and his resolve - he was going to make it so that the people responsible for his pain and the pain of other Superhumans were brought to justice. It was time to act.

The Reserve

In 2012, Lukas broke into the Detroit Superhuman Reserve and joined the Revolution Alliance. Through a series of coincidences and being in the right place at the right time, Lukas kept the ragtag group intact and was promoted to Second-In-Command after gaining the trust of the notoriously mercurial Project 13. They developed a fast friendship, and Lukas dedicated his heart and soul to the cause of the RA.

After the RA, Refuge, and various civilians in the Reserve teamed up to break out of the Reserve when their very existence was threatened, Lukas had to take over the RA - 13 had become too overwhelmed by having to reintegrate to the Underground, and fled before he could hurt anyone. Lukas missed him terribly but steered the group to calmer waters, and was only Kind of upset when 13 returned almost a year later.
