Event 1
Mackenzie only recently learned that she's a werewolf...
When Mackenzie came into the world she wasn't really wanted. Her mother had had an on/off relationship with the father, but as soon as he found out she was pregnant, he split. When her daughter was born, she didn't want to give her up at first, tho, but she wasn't keen on being held back by her either. Her try lasted a year before she handed the little girl over to the system. It was anonymously so her daughter wouldn't be able to find her once she was old enough.
Kenzie's first two years in foster home was alright, but her guardians kept taking in new kids and weren't able to care for all of them in the end. That resulted in a new foster family when she was about 4. Here it was just her and a biological daughter. In the beginning everything was fine, but six months later things started to change. The man of the household became her main caretaker and from that day on he started to take advantages of the little girl. She was too young to understand what was happening, but she knew she didn't like it. He snuck into her room every other night and made her cry. What used to be a happy girl became a very quiet and withdrawn shadow of herself, afraid to speak to adults and avoided eye contact at any cost.
The abuse went on for years, it never stopped. You would think Kenzie's foster mom would have noticed something during the years, but if she did, she looked the other way and let it happen. The girl was kept mostly at home and didn't get out much. Wasn't allowed to. She was homeschooled and never really got to socialize with kids her age. Her foster sister was 8 years older than Mackenzie and didn't really accept her as a part of the family. She rather saw her as a permanently sleepover guest.
Kenzie's life was practically hell until the death of her foster dad. She was 13 at the time and remembers nothing. Only that she woke up in the hospital and was told by a social worker that he was dead and the family didn't want her anymore. She later learned that he had been killed, found one morning covered in blood like attacked by a wild beast. She herself had been wandered around in a nearby forest, like in a trance, unaware of her surroundings, unresponsive, naked... The police were convinced that she had witnessed the murder, but were unable to get a statement from the young girl due to amnesia. They believed she had lost her memory because of chok.
From the age of 13-17 she lived in a third home with a sweet older woman who had fostered many kids over the years. However, after losing her hearing she wished to only take in older children, as she found it easier. Mackenzie was especially easy since she mainly kept to herself and stayed in her room. Her socializing skills were bad and she was somewhat scared of the world outside. At this point she had no exact memory of what she had been going through before coming here. She only knew it was bad... She began to get blackouts frequently, always finding herself in places she didn't remember going in the first place - often naked or dressed in clothes that wasn't her own. It freaked her out. She felt very alone and began keeping a journal for everytime she had a blackout. Kenzie noticed that they always occurred on nights with a full moon... Her first thought was stories of werewolves, but knowing they didn't exist, she quickly discarded that idea. It wasn't until someone else's handwriting appeared in the journal that she learned the truth - or at least parts of it...
Over the next couple of weeks Kenzie wrote back and forth with a person called Quinn. It was very hard for her to understand, but it turned out that she was a part of her. Another version; an alter so to speak. Quinn explained that she was the cause of the blackouts Mackenzie had been experienced and everytime it happened the alter had been in control of the body. However, she had only done it to protect her, as she had taken the pain for her. Kenzie didn't know what Quinn was referring to. In order to make her understand the alter lets her mind be conscious at the next full moon. The discovery was absolutely terrifying. She experienced first hand - or mentally from the backseat - what it was like to be a wolf...! She didn't feel the pain of the shifting herself, but she felt that Quinn was in pain. So it was really true. She was a werewolf...
It took a lot of adjusting and acceptance the following months. She had mixed feelings about it all. The wolf scared her, but Quinn seemed to like it - the form, not the pain, even though she could take it. Having an alter was still very hard for her to comprehend. To be honest she didn't quite understand it, but in some way it felt less lonely. Like there was always someone to have her back...
However, Kenzie needed a change of scenery. She felt like she was another person in need of a fresh start, so she packed her few belongings along with the money jar from the kitchen and took the next bus out of town. She didn't really have a plan and the decision had been rather impulsive but in some way it gave her a feeling of control - something that had been missing in her life up until now. She didn't have a destination, but when searching for werewolves on the internet, a town named New Cresthill had popped up. It was mentioned on a blog about the supernatural, and in hopes of finding out more and with no other places to go, why not try there?
After a couple of months in NCH Mackenzie got involved with some bad company while looking for other werewolves. She was approached by someone claiming to have answers to all her questions as well as letting her be part of something bigger and more meaningful. A place to help her finding out who she truly was... She was manipulated into joining the Blood Army without really knowing much about it. They weren't really interested in her, tho'. Instead they found Quinn more interesting and useful - and realized how to make her cooperate by threatening to harm Kenzie.
For the time being she lives in a run down building on Blood Army territory. It's not really a home, but at least it provides shelter and showers. She survives on money and food from kind hearted people as well as the animals Quinn catches as a wolf.
